New to WC scene; starting line?

My friend recently turned me on to the Corsair H100--good lord my CPU runs alot cooler. Now that I've seen what a production, every-man CPU cooling unit can do, I'm curious as to what a custom setup is capable of.

After some internet researching, I came across this DIY water cooling write-up from 2005. Is it still applicable with today's technology?

I am looking for a complete cooling system--CPU, NB, GPU. I would LOVE to keep the project as DIY as possible.

Where are some good places to start? Please link me to any articles, and post any advice you may have for a total noob!

I would go with something like that. Even though it is a "kit" all of those are products that you can purchase separately, but you get the best price with that kit. You can also just buy a GPU block and a motherboard block and put them in the loop as well.

As for learning how set it all up. There are tons and tons of threads on this forum as well as youtube videos that literally detail every step of the process. I suggest you start with those and do plenty of research before buying anything. Once you have everything planned out, you can either go with a kit like the one I linked above, or if you are looking for different parts, buy everything separate.

Check out this thread: http://www.overclock.net/t/882408/official-xspc-rasa-750-rs-rx120-240-360-kit-club

It's a great little starter kit, and they have recently released some very nice updated kits with better pumps, CPU blocks, radiators, and fittings.

There are also tons of pics of people's rigs, and other ideas if you have time.

I read that you could try to do like a geothermal cooling with water

It makes water pretty cold, but takes a lot of work digging a hole

You can try evaporation type cooling thing.
They call them bongs, but they are really tall and noisey, but probably alot cheaper than buying radiators and a bunch of fans, but you still need some fans for that

Im not sure if thats what you mean by diy or not...
