I don't need to cut holes in the bottom but I am going to soon. My rad has 5 ports. 1 is on the bottom raising it about 3mm. I am am going to cut a hole so that the port stop go's through, dropping the rad 3mm and giving me easy to use drain port.
Ok, that makes sense then. Im too picky and have to have things line up perfect, and wouldnt want the rad touching the floor causing any vibrations biggrin.gif.

Did you have to cut out the bottom of the 5.25 bay as well? I did that before relising the floor was going to be an issue frown.gif

Yes I did. I don't think there is a way to not have to cut out the bottom of the bays even if you cut the floor out. My rad is 80mm thick and takes up most of the drive bay too.

This is an old pic from when I first got the loop together, from page 32 of this thread. Things have changed a bit since then. I don't have any recent pics and can't take more at the moment as the loop is in pieces.

Has anyone tried using Cougar Vortex fans for the front intake?

Mine at 1500RPM makes an extremely loud whooshing sound when I close the front intake panel or close the front door.

I'm guessing these fans don't intake too well from the sides. . .

I had one of them as a front intake fan... and I did not get this. When I had my yate loon highs all the way up I would get that whooshing noise. I think the noise is from the fans pulling so much air that they create a little wind tunnel effect.

I had Cougar fans with two front intake, one rear exhaust, and two top exhaust. Never had any noise issue. Might be a faulty fan.

So dialing down the fan speed should fix this then.

Also, I actually got worse performance with the Vortex than I did with the stock Corsair fan. Is this also because of the wind tunnel in the front?

Is anyone here using the 550D with an Asrock z77 Extreme4 mobo? I'd like to know your thoughts on how well the two play together before I pull the trigger on this case.

I used one. See my build on page 45.

Thanks. My main concern with that board and this case is the fan plugs on the motherboard and the fan cables being long enough to reach them. It doesn't appear as if you had any issues?
The stock fan leads where long enough to reach the fan headers on the MB. I had to purchase extenders ($1.50 each x 2 for the front ones) when I replaced the fans with the Corsair's in the pictures.
