Corsair 550D Owners Club - Page 51

I can say putting the top and side panel on does help quietness. You can take them off too if you want more airflow.

I'm thinking about getting the corsair white cables for my corsair PSU. Does anyone here have that in their 550D that I might see? I think that would look pretty cool...

So, ive built my system:
i7 3820
GTX 680 EVGA
Rampage IV Formula
Corsair AX760
Corsair Vengeance 16GB

I am in a dilemma. I have built and connected everything EXPECT for the cpu cooler. I will be getting the H55 tomorrow, and had a question about the 120mm fan mount on the back of the 550d.

The holes for the fan mount are large, therfore i will have to use the washers included with the h55, BUT are the screws included LONG enough to go through the fan and onto the radiator????

Please answer, i had a friend who had an antec kuhler 620 and a 550d and said the screws wouldn't reach the radiator..

(Also! My CPU is stock clocked, i won't overclock, AND plan on having both the top and side panels ON for quietness, is it worth it? Or should i stick one on the bottom?

Thanks guys!! Sorry for so many questions:o

I went through a similar process with my H70, and the screws won't reach if you leave the rubber screw mounts on. I had to pick up slightly longer 6-32 screws at ACE to get everything to fit.

I would also keep all the panels on.

The screws are long enough but the rubber things on the case will have to be removed. You'll also need the washers that came with the H55.

Looks like i'll have to head over to a hardware store, Glad to hear though it wasn't only me having the issue.

I'd rather not take the top or side fan panels off, would putting a intake fan on the bottom improve airflo (to the gpu)?

Thanks!

The bottom fan would push some air on the GPU yes.

l went to two major hardware stores, the closest i could find was 5/32" which were too thick (should be 6/32") GRRRRRR!mad.gif

Finding 6-32 screws of the correct length can also be challenging if you're looking for long ones (I needed 2-1/2" screws to mount a fan shroud).

Someone on OCN recommended ACE Hardware, and the one down the street happened to carry all sorts of screws.

So that would be my recommendation. The Home Depot near me also carried 6-32 screws up to 2".
