Corsair 550D Owners Club - Page 9

Here's mine, I like this case. Lots of room if your PSU isn't too large, I couldn't fit a fan in the bottom. I put a Corsair AF-140 in the rear exhaust slot, stock fans in the front.

Running OC'd SLI with no heat problems so far, I might get some upgrade front 120 fans after I get some time on it.

For what it's worth, temps jumped 5-7C with my H80 in my 550D (vs my FT01). However, getting a D14 solved that problem and actually kept temps about 1C under the H80 when in my previous FT01. Guess the D14 just prefers slower fans and can disperse the heat more efficiently than the H80. Now really sure why but I'm not one to complain tongue.gif.

Plus, it was easier than my FT01 to cable manage and it's quieter. Oh and I ordered a plain panel from Corsair for the left side when looking head on. Wasn't a fan of the push-open panel for two extra fans, took away from the clean aesthetic. Love how you can get any replacement part from Corsair, spare filters, new alu face, whatever, they sell it biggrin.gif

Thanks for tip on solid left side panel. Didn't realize they sold that. Sweet.

Edit: Are you sure it will work for left hand side? I don't see anything listing it as left, just says solid side panel.

Yeah, I normally don't keep the stock TP on my coolers, but it had been a really long week and I just wanted to get it done lol.

Same, I had no idea! And for only $15? That's astounding. And I'm curious to know if it works for the left side as well. I would love that.

Well, I'm not Corsair but I can guarantee it works. Why? The panels are side independent.

Proof? : Humor me, take the right panel currently on your 550D (the plain panel) and fit it right onto the left side. Just keep the three little clip things aiming towards the bottom so they snag the grooves on the bottom of the case and the hexagonal grooves on the top. It locks into place just as it should. It's a little perk I guess Corsair used for simplicity in the manufacturing process, but it really works out for us that rather have a cleaner looking side panel biggrin.gif

TL;DR: Panels are interchangeable. ^^

Lol^. And I'll have to try this later. I'm still amazed how cheap the panel is. A side panel with sound-deadening material for $15 is unbeatable.

And to be more off topic, I love my mechanical board, too. Going from my mechanical board to my laptop before was so heartbreaking. Now with my MBA, it's not nearly as bad. This keyboard is probably the next best thing from a mechanical board smile.gif.
