Another Ivy Bridge die TIM removal. - Page 9

Get yourself UEFI BIOS Updater and update your CPU Microcode the OVERCLOCK one because it has shown to keep CPU OC stable at lower voltage settings than other CPU Microcodes without adding any invisible voltage on top. Take a look here for more detailed info, but it does require you have to BIOS Flashback capability, where BIOS can be flashed through USB drive without going into BIOS Menu's and with PC turned off.

My CPU can reach 4.8Ghz running stable for 12 hours with Prime95 Maximum Heat torture test + other Apps in the background for network and GPU stress-testing. It do that ONLY with that Microcode at 1.30-1.31v. Other Microcodes I tried won't let me stay at 4.8Ghz no matter what voltage I try...

Seeing as though this thread is already necrod and it has some useful delidding info, I wanna mention I cooked that i7 from temps alone, and I ended up buying a delidded 1.5 which I am using right now still. I cant find the post about cooking it though.

Very unlikely it was killed from temps alone. cpu's throttle them selfs so its literally impossible to over heat them. more like over volted. Or damaged from the deliding.

It would have been voltage then trying to reach 5Ghz.

How warm is it there? and you have water cooling on the cpu?

Ok i see you have a water block for the cpu but no talk of radiator or fans? (at least that i could find sorry if you do)

Its in my storage monster build log, I have 1x360, 1x140 and 1x120. Its 32c today and the fans are running at their lowest possible speed and the hottest core is 49c idle. Link is in my sig.

Ya trying to o/c in that weather is going to prove very difficult. I now see why temps are so high even with the best chip temps will be the issue unless you get some more exotic cooling smile.gif
