/edit And the little extra the HOX has over the GS3 is the non pen tile display. I hate pentile, makes everything looked textured. The One X is an amazing first productization of Qualcomm's Snapdragon S4. It's absolutely everything we wanted.
Fair enough! I have heard that the Dual Core in the AT&T version runs a fair few things better then the Quad, However I think as time goes by this year that will change to some extent as apps, kernals and roms are optimised further for multi-core CPU's and at that point the Quads will be much more efficient and capable. The difference I know is and will still be minimal tho I believe)
I know there is currently an exploit that allows AT&T models to be rooted, but I heard that they were intent on closing that sploit and preventing others. I also see on forums that some users are able to root and some cant.
LTE in the UK is atm very much behind the US and is unlikely to appear where I live or work in the next 18 Months sadly (Despite what some of the carriers and OFCOM say). This is true for most of the UK with the exception of the larger citys and areas where providers are testing the tech. Im guessing this is why your version has LTE and mine does't.
The battery life I aggree is currently a bit of an issue, and your version does have better battery performance over other models. Again im sure with a little time the UK/International version will be optimised to work with the battery in a more conservative mannor, but for now your right, it chews through the battery faster then the dual core models. Mine does however easily get through the day with a good amount of use of all the features and I haven't been caught short yet. I just plug it in when I goto bed and pick it up in the morning.
Anyway to summarise the performance difference is minimal between the 2 models, I just think its wrong that AT&T forced the different model out for whatever reason rather then offering a choice between the International and the AT&T versions.
With regards to Cost I just ran the £-$ conversion. I am with TMobile UK and I pay £36 GBP - UK ($55.76 USD) a month for the contract, I don't know if you had to pay anything up front or if you are on an 18 or 24 month contract.
I paid just £10 ($15.46) upfront, it should of been £99 ($144.88 USD) upfront but since I have had my account and same number for just over 11 years now I got a discounted rate on the up front price and monthly contract price. Contract should of been £42p/m ($65.05 USD). I am on a 24 month contract but can upgrade the handset again when it gets to 22 Months in.
I also get unlimited Texts and Data which is VERY much unlimited as I recently spent a weekend in a crappy hotel while working away and used my HOX as a WIFI Access Point to my lappy using the mobile data and clocked up over 6GB in 3 days just through watching TV shows and a couple of Films (In HD), that's on top of my usual 2-2.5GB a month of mobile data use. The bill has just come through and there are no extra charges or any notes *****ing about my high usage, just the normal monthly charge of £36. I also download alot of audio books through the mobile data that I listen to at work, they also start to crank up the data use too on top of a fairly regular usage of online TV program streaming and the stupid amount of apps I have installed constantly updating (I do try and do all updates of apps at home if possible). I get 900Mins a month of calls which like you might as well be unlimited as I never use anywhere near that much.
I believe monthly charges are generally more expensive in the US then the UK due to a better and faster network and much much larger scale to cover the cost of running compared to our little Island's cell network.
