BF3 ... meh ... running around shooting and blowing up the graphical representations of other, real human beings ... it's not my thing. I'll do Co-Op stuff against the computer like Borderlands or L4D but for some reason online games like CoD and BF series rub me the wrong way. There's enough real violence between people in the world.

Yeah, I'm a damn hippie, I know wink.gif

I'm leaning towards some Crysis 2, actually, as my first game on the new card.

That's funny, I've been feeling the same way lately. DayZ has helped - I just kill undead. tongue.gif

Check it out if you already have Arma II+OA.

I'm finding myself wondering for some reason if I might not be able to get a bunch higher on the memory if I backed off the core a bit headscratch.gif

All in all I have to say the gameplay experience thus far seems identical to the 470 SLI ...as one would expect based on the numbers I showed in the OP. This card is just doing it with a LOT less noise and heat emanating from my case ... which is pretty much why I got the thing.

Are there better drivers yet for these cards apart from the 301.25 that came with the card, or no? Beta's or whatnot?

EDIT: So, it's looking to me like the last few MHz in Core Clock costs one quite a bit in terms of memory clock ... Just finished a Crysis run at 1325/3600 ... Only had to give up 25MHz on core to go from 1612 to 1800 on vram. Seems like it'd be worth it.

I ran the regular GPU bench as that gives me much better GPU usage than Assault Harbor.

Arni, I'z wondering if you'd appease me w/another Crysis run, this time the regular GPU benchmark, 4xAA, etc? smile.gif

His SB does help but Kepler just fails in Crysis as it's very ROP and memory bandwidth heavy.

It's the same with Metro, that's also ROP and bandwidth heavy, the 2 area's where the 7900 series really have a big advantage.

I dunno if I call 60fps on the Crysis GPU Bench maxed at 1080p w/4xAA really FAILING for a single card. It's just ... not as fast as a 7970 ... I'm sure it's memory bandwidth related. How many ROP's on the 7970, I forget? 670 only has 32 ...

It also has 32 but not everything is created equal, AMD's ROP's are quite as bit more efficient smile.gif

Personally I would say it is fail for the 670/680, why? Because if they had more ROP power and memory bandwidth they would possibly bench a lot higher then they are now, it's a bit of a silly thing to be limited by.

Anyway just to add, my 5850 Crossfire clocked at 850Mhz each with 4xMSAA, very high @ 1080p being driven by a 2500k got 48fps minimum and 60fps average.

I really liked your Crysis numbers. How much fps do you get with 8xAA?
Why the 600 series cards are so weak in Crysis ? The hd7000 seems 35% better in this particular game.
could it be driver issues or bandwidth limitations?

It's his i7 that is holding him back in Crysis. Especially @ just 4xAA. I had exactly the same situation with my i7 @4.0.

Here is kepler on SB (GTX 680 clocked much lower than brett's, 1245/3386)
