3 monitors on 580 + on-board?

So I've got two monitors at the moment and I'm wanting to hook up my 32inch tv for videos and movies and such but i was wondering if its possible to have the monitor hooked up to the on board graphics,if that's even possible, if i can, how? if not then i would like to know a cheap card i can get so i can run the monitor off it. Thanks

Check your BIOS to see if you can have both enabled at once. I'd be surprised

EDIT: as far as I know, to do three displays on 5 series nVidia cards, you need two of the same card

EDIT2: That would be nVidia surround vision capable. Perhaps you could get a cheap 9800Gt and run it with SLI disabled? I haven't have nVidia in so long, so don't quote me

Yea i know you need a second card to have a 3rd display i was trying to avoid that as i don't have 400$ to drop on a second 580 so can i buy like a gt210 or w/e and use that to run the monitor, not looking to game on it just watch movies and videos

At one point in time I had the 2 DVI ports on my 2 displays and then the HDMI out to my tv with 1 EVGA 550 Ti.

I do not think you can run on board at the same time

It is but sadly only Kepler can run 3+ monitors on 1 card, so i have no idea how you managed to run 3 displays off of a 550 if im reading that right

Think this depends on motherboards.

I had a few setups that could do this and a few that couldn't.

Why not just test by plugging 1 monitor into your GPU and 1 into your onboard. Enable the onboard in bios and install drivers.

See if you can use 2 screens this way. IF it works you should be able to plug a 3rd monitor into the Nvidia GPU.

If not, look for a cheapo video card.

I still think the cheapest method will be using your onboard (if it works).

If not planning to run nvidia surround, it doesn't matter what GPU you pick. Heck put in an AMD GPU.

I rocked a 570/6870 for a brief time when I needed more monitor outputs.
