Multitasking on the 2600K

Thread Starter
I'm currently doing a McAfee full-scan, full scan with Malwarebytes and uninstalling all of my Adobe products (I'm anti-Adobe now for security reasons). My CPU usage is under 20% and yet everything hangs a bit. I'm trying to listen to one of my favorite songs, Don't Stop Me Now by Queen and the song is hiccuping , making it impossible to listen to thoroughly. This CPU is supposed to be able to handle the multitasking, could it be a bottleneck on my hard drive?

I see a pattern in that all of these processes are hard drive heavy (the full-scans and uninstalling gigs of crap), could it be that I need a new HDD or a better one? Maybe it's my RAM? What do you guys suggest I do?

I think it is your HDD and you have nothing to do about that.... the HDD can only read or right. For a song, I believe he put some part in your ram be he didn't have the time to do it because he is scanning (looking to all folder) and deleting some folder at the same time.

Maybe if you do the uninstall and after do the scan you can listen to your music without hiccup.

Like you have say, sanning and deleting are heavy on your hard drive and will be on any HDD.

I hope I answer you question

Your bottleneck is the HDD for sure... SSD would probably solve your problems but I'm not 100% sure beacuse I'm not running one yet biggrin.gif

A SSD can read and right multiple file at the same time but they have a limited right capacity. It will solve is issue but I'm wondering how long his SDD will live if he right and erase alot

If the SSD company is using low quality MLC NAND then you can write to it 20GB a day for 3 years. Thats alot !
