My ram is not always fully detected.

Thread Starter
I have six 4GB modules of the 2000Mhz Corsair Dominator GT's and I've noticed that at boot sometimes only 20GB loads. Hitting the reset generally fixes the problem, occasionally I will have to repeat this process twice. Once the computer is booted, however, there are absolutely no problems with the memory. I generally use ramdisks and all of my modules have passed memtest without error. I have tested each dimm slot on the motherboard as well and they all work fine. I'm not entirely sure what could be the problem in this scenario. Problem persists at default bios settings. Anyone willing to share some insight on the matter?

tl;dr: CPU is not seated properly in the socket, CPU cooler tension is too tight, or incorrect memory settings (also includes memory controller voltage- CPU VTT or QPI/DRAM whatever you want to call it).

Will experiment with it this evening. It's not an issue with the CPU seating because I've had the computer for like 2 years and only recently got a new set of ram. Default bios settings for the ram are low and I have tried manual voltages as well with no change. I'll update this later today.

The default settings for the memory were a bit odd. I noticed that they were only getting 1.5v among other things. After some fiddling I think I have them booting consistently. It's been a few hours since the tweak and I've had around 10-15 cold boots with proper memory recognition and none without. I will continue to test this and post back if I find anything interesting. It appears that my modules are very finicky with the ratio of VTT to DRAM. Currently running the memory under spec with 1.35VTT and 1.62DRAM @ 1280Mhz 9-10-9-110-2T. 160Mhz core clock 2:8

Glad to see you got it sorted out. All 1366 CPU's are like that. #2 in the guide I linked to:
Quote:
incorrect QPI/DRAM to VDIMM relationship - every cpu/mem pairing will have an optimal voltage differential between QPI/DRAM to VDIMM voltage usually between 0.01 to 0.5v difference. Fall out of the optimal differential voltage for cpu/mem pairing will = less memory detected and/or lower memory bandwidth reported compared to when optimal voltage differential is in place.
