memory timings/oc

Hello, I just decided to try overclocking my ram.. i don't have the best ram they are rated 1.65v @ 1600 mhz.. i know that sandy is recommended to use 1.5v modules.. However, ive been running them at 1.5v @ 1600 and have been running fine with no stability problems. I keep reading that 1.65v should be fine and I've also read people say don't go over 1.5v. After debating it for a while i decided to go ahead and push 1.65v and try to oc my ram but it doesn't seem to be stable at anything higher then 1600mhz.. now the question is should i just keep it at 1.5v @ 1600 with 9-9-9-24 timings or should i see how tight i can get my timings at with 1.65v.. im still debating whether 1.5v or 1.65v is safe. thanks
2500k Sandy

If you're OCing for performance gains, forget it. RAM OC is not noticeable in "real world" scenarios (unless you fold, in which case it helps a bit).

If you're just OCing for fun and want to see the RAM's limits, then go ahead. 1.65v has proven safe thus far. I've yet to see a thread titled "my SB system blew up because of my 1.65v RAM".

I reckon you could get away with 8-9-8-21.

cool thanks for the reply,, its funny that u mentioned those timings cuz thats exactly what i was able to get @ 1600 running 1.5v.. thanks i think ill just keep it here since i didnt see much difference with tighter timings at 1.65v
