$850 budget, HAVE AT 'ER! - Page 2

Thos eGskills are not HZ's but they're still well reviewed... a nice set of Corsair or OCZ would be fine too... you want RAM in the 180-200$ range for that rig

waiting for dx 10 is fine if you have the money for a newly released product ..With teh budget you have a 8 series card wont be the only thing you will have to upgrade you will also nees a powerfull psu as well i doubt if that hyper will cut it .The 7900 wil be fine for now ..The allendale build you have been shown will out do most amd chips at stock speeds and could be quicker than a fx-62 when oced.A cheap case would surffice for now then get a better one a little later ...M

so the prices on estimations for the x1600 and 1gb ram that im selling are about right, though i might get a bit more ($100ish?) for the x1600 becuase of the OC i have it at?

Anyways, can someone throw together their thoughts on a dual core rig with the required compenents plz? I'd prefer having a case lol

This is true ^^ for a DX 10 card that everyone always says "wait for!!"
This doesn't seem to fit here...
1. well beyond his budget
2. Power supply upgrade would be required... also more moneys.
3. i will not allow a G80 to sit in a generic case.

Edit: i think you could get 120 ish for the 1600 mabye with that OC (use that as a selling feature) and the ram i would think again if it OC's well then price it accordingly!

haha, nice sense of entrepreneurship you have there
isn't dx10 also supposed to only work with vista? so i'll require cash for the card, cash for a stronger psu, and cash for vista?

Mobo: Gigabyte DS3 145$
CPU: Core 2 Duo E6300 185$
Ram: Gskill 178$
GPU: eVGA 256-P2-N615-TX GeForce 7600GT 256MB - 133
PSU : Hiper 580: 99$
Case: Thermaltake Tsunami - 105

Perhaps a heatsink for CPU ?

does a conroe E6300+7600gt>opty 165+7900gto?
*Waits for Chozart to grace us with his presence*

killa_concept, that depends upon what you'll be using the computer for. Assuming that the 7900GTO is better than the 7600GT, if you are doing gaming the second option (the opteron) is better because your bottleneck will be your graphics card and not your processor, meaning that your processor won't get the chance to make much of a difference between the two. That's why I haven't upgraded from my Pentium D 930. If you are going to try to overclock the crap out of the system and are going to use it for things like folding, benchmarking, multitasking, etc., then your processor will be your limiting factor, and thus the first option is better (the conroe).

I believe the opty will be better in games but the E6300 will kill the opty in everything else. Also are they priced the same cus if they are i would go with the opty.

the 6300 is not a conroe it is an allendale core on teh core2duo design This chip matched with a 7600 will give you a good quality games machine with a good upgrade path later
