I know there are no 7900GTs for $180... that's the 7900GS, which has less pipelines and is downclocked.

The 7900GT is a great card, and when voltmodded, can reach 7900GTX speeds pretty easily. If you decide you don't want to wait for the GTO, the GT will serve you nicely.

The GTO is a 512 meg card, and yes, you should wait until it is in stock. I have also saw a review that the freezer 64 pro cools better with the mx-1 thermal compound (stock, pre-applied) than with AS5.

And funny fact: My system cost $850 2 years ago (minus cooler and monitor, and the sound was scrapped from an old system - probably worth $0.50 now lol). The 3200+ cost $150. Now it's like $60.

funny part is ill be able to tell some kid my age who's planning to order a octo-core cpu build that same exact thing in awhile: "back in the day, $850 couldn't get you more than a opty 165... they were worth $150 back then... now they're like worth... $20"

technology really does move too fast lol

Ya, I've paid a total of $2,500 or so on this computer, and could maybe sell it for $1,000 to anyone who knew what I was talking about. OK, if I sold the monitor, too, $1250.

Without a good psu you won't oc well at all!
The high end video cards your talking about require a good amount of juice in
the first place. With a worthy psu, expect 2.8 - 2.9 if your ram is decent.

Go into the FAQ's looking for a psu calculator and fill in your rig specs. to see whats required. That 'll clue you closer. Not sure what the 7950gt power specs are.
