I never quite grasped the idea of Angry Birds. Angry Birds space was a little interesting since it involved a tiny bit of quasi-physics, but I never really played it beyond the intro level.
I'd like to see a comparison between DL's before it went free, DL's of the ad-sponsored version, and numbers showing how much people played the game. Friends will tell me about some "awesome" game, so I download it and try it only to find out I think it sucks and I never play it again (more than likely uninstall it).

^^^This. Given that it has been in every smartphone/tablet user's face virtually since it came out, I'm not impressed. 1B DL's does not equate to 1B users. Can't begin to estimate how many times I've uninstalled an app and re-downloaded it to re-install it.

Agreed. IMHO, it requires quite a bit more thinking (though how much really?).
Definitely much more creative than stealing a catapult game and skinning it. Not that anything these days is truly original.
