No way to tell. I dont think anything is coming out to replace the GTX670 or 7950 price points any time soon but you never know. It might not even be that something will come out. You decide youre going to wait 6 months and even tho nothing new has come out, rumors of the new GTX770 will start floating then youll want to wait for that but then youll hear about the 8950 or whatever it is. Bottom line is that its pointless to wait if youre needing or wanting something now. wink.gif

Also, when comparing power consumption at load the 670 runs about 100-150 watts lower than the 580.

Metro: 317w vs 425w
OCCT: 297w vs 451w

That can save quite a bit of power over time... thumb.gif

According to Nvidias road map, theres nothing until maxwell in 2013 now apart from lower 600 cards. If 1.5GB VRAM is enough for 1080p would i be better off just keeping my 580 and getting a second rather than going to a single 670?

If you're going from a 580 to a 670, you must have money to waste. No offence intended, that's just my opinion.

"Iiyama ProLite E2475HDS 1080p " Do you really need anything better than a 580 for that display? I know I wouldn't...

EDIT: No WAY do you need 2 580's for one 1080p monitor.

If it helps at all, I'm in the same position as you. I have a 580 and today I was looking at what has come out over the past couple of months.

It'd be nice to go for an upgrade to a single card, but for the same price as an upgrade to a 670, I could get a second 580 and SLI with better results.
Now quite honestly, for me at least, the upgrade is no use as I game at 1080 & I have no intention to upgrade my monitor at any time soon.

I've only checked prices at Scan, so maybe if you shop around the prices will differ, but another 580 will cost around £300 which puts it a little lower than the 670. For the money of the upgrade you're actually getting a relatively small increase in performance compared to buying a second 580.

There are the problems that SLI has which might influence your decision but honestly after playing with AnandTech's GPU benchmarks here is just one example, if I was to drop £300, I'd go for another 580, should I want an upgrade I'd be looking at the next release of cards.

Basically its like this:

I get £230ish for my GTX 580 and i put the difference towards a GTX 670 making the upgrade £110.

A second GTX 580 would cost £300 plus my 750w PSU would need replacing although i do have a Corsair HX1050 on order (providing they honour the sale price as its out of stock and on back order)

The GTX 670 would give me 2GB of VRAM as apposed to 1.5GB. In some games i play im seeing 1.5GB VRAM useage but not sure if that means it maxing out as my FPS are still great

I have no intention of going for a multiple monitor setup. I only got my current monitor 6 months ago and im happy with it.

My GTX 580 is an asus direct cu card and is capable of 980mhz overclock and i have modded to to work with a closed antec khular 620 waterblock so my temps are below 58c under load.

Going to a GTX 670 i go back to direct cu ii cooling and have higher temps and more noise.

If i sell now, my 580 is worth more

GTX 580 might not max everything out at 1080p until maxwell next year?

Thats all the reasons im considering both upgrading and keeping what i have

Then 1 580 with 1.5gb vram is more than enough.

Even though Project CARS and CRYSIS 2 report using 1520mb of VRAM? How does it work? Does it just use as much as avilable (i.e if i have 2GB VRAM would it use 2GB??) or does it just use however much it needs and if it needs more the performance suffers unless you upgrade?

Another thing to mention, I have a Asus GTX 670 TOP reserved at a very good price of £349 and they are sold out in most places and other retailers want £380 for the same card.

750w PSU would easily handle GTX 580's

here you go

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1nDbGXsojM

I've been running mine overclocked at 1.05v 850 MHz and an overclocked i7 2600k with kuhler 620's on my GPU's and a H70 on my cpu without a hiccup.
Shhh!
