Vishera on water hits 5+ GHz: http://www.fudzilla.com/home/item/29067-vishera-on-water-hits-5%20-ghz

We have learned from well informed industry sources that with the right motherboard you can expect Vishera to be a great overclocker.
... AMD Liquid CPU cooler by Asetek is something that can get you to 5+ GHz speed with new Vishera FX cores

More, you can grab this FX-8350/LCS kit right now on ebay:

AMD over clocking experts in their overclocking guide do NOT recommend increasing cpu-nothbridge voltage above 1.4 volts. So you definitely are damaging your cpu by using 1.55 volts. The guide is available on ROG website.

if you read the article, they are talking about the northbridge voltage for 1.4 volts. The cpu voltage is fine up to 1.5vcore volts on air cooling. Water cooling you can get away with a bit more voltage to the cpu. And under Ln2 people have gone as high as 1.75 volts vcore.

running the vcore up to 1.5 volts is considered to be safe as long as you have the cooling to keep it cool. Now the northbridge I wouldn't go past 1.4 volts even under ln2. Btw I am a AMD overclocking expert ;-), I have used ln2, at a few of the Amd Sponsored overclocking events.

300$ is not really overpriced for what the cpu comes with... Talking a 100$ liquid cooler and 200$ cpu, so its not over-priced at all.

Piledriver 8350 @ $208.90

Bulldozer 8150 @ $189.99

There simply can not be much difference in performance between the 2 chips

Remember only 12 more days to go

My true hope with Piledriver is that they get the absurd amount of power draw under control.... The old anandtech review I think it was showed a 300+ watt difference between a 3570k overclocked to 4.5ish ghz and a 8120 overclocked to 4.5ish ghz (give or take obviously). Needless to say 580ish watts from the wall vs 280ish is somewhat significant. If they can get that under control I'll be interested in getting a new chip once prices stabilize.

I honestly would go Intel, but i spent too much money on my Kryos HF and I'm not in the mood to get another waterblock after budgeting out a new PC for my wife.

Anyways - with luck the NDA will expire a couple days before the chip release and we can get some real reviewer benchmarks with comparisons to the 81xx series bulldozer chips.

Funny when I read the AMD overclocking manual little emphasis was placed on increasing cpu voltage ,the main emphasis was cpu-north bridge voltage. I have never bothered increasing the cpu voltage. Perhaps that is why I have been having the instability. A blue screen every week mostly while doinf low end gaming
like Pirates Sid Meir's game and once ina while with Galactic Civilizations Ii. But recently I got one with no gaming. Have a Samsung and Corsair SSD's. The blue screen most often refers to irqless thanequal I have no idea what that means. .

By the way as far as water cooling goes The Corsair H60 vs H100 is only 3 ° Celsius difference not worth the extra $40 dollars in my opinion
