Here is an additional thought on overclocking....
Why would you want to buy a processor and overclock it, when you can buy a processor that is faster than said overclocked processor for cheaper? My point is...
i3 2120 > Phenom II and FX line of processors. Even when you heavily overclock the Phenom II and FX processors the lowly Core i3 still keeps pace with them and beats them in some cases! My suggestion would be to purchase the i3 2120 but get a Z77 board, this will allow you to, at a later point, upgrade to a Core i5 or Core i7 Sandybridge or Ivybridge processor with out any other major changes.
an additional route would be to get a P67 or Z68 board, as they are a little cheaper than a Z77, and that will allow you to upgrade to a higher end Sandybridge processor.
P.s. You can't really overclock the i3, but you can still future proof with the above suggested boards.
