My old DELL pc (P4 512mb ram nvidia 7600) works fine at home.... but at my wife shop it wont boot fully? just sticks at the XP loading screen?

cant figure it out! restored, repaired, etc... onlything different between locations is the monitor/keyboard/mouse

any ideas!?? thanks!

Just for kicks try a boot with the ethernet cable unplugged. Is it possible you have an issue with a patch cable when a crossover is called for (I know most everything everywhere autonegoitates but perhaps this is the problem) I also cant see it stopping the boot process, but can't think of what else could be different between home and work except the internet connection type and cabling. What exactly are you internet connection types at both locations?

EDIT: well yes there could be source voltage issues (the AC voltage) to the power supply, but this would really be a stretch.Do other PC's boot correctly in the work environment?

I forgot to say it WAS working perfectly.. for years.. at her work)

I had it home - i rebooted 20+ times... fine

brought it down to her shop... plugged it all back in... nope. I removed plugs... booted. works??? lol nice POS.
after plugging each item in.. it seems that the keyboard or printer was the cause.

they would work in one USB slot but not a different one! (even though the mouse worked in any!)

so.. it seems fine again. who knows.. as long as she has internet and MS word... thats all that matters

thanks!
