Need help on selecting a tv tuner card

Thread Starter
I know this is a graphics card section, however, it is the closest to a "video card" section. I want to get a tv tuner card or something that will take a coaxial cable so i can watch tv on my computer. I would like it to be hd compatible. Also, i would like it to be as cheap as possible, but good quality. I have already found this http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5625147&CatId=1427. However, it says it is pci and I don't know if older pci cards are compatible with new mobos, sorry for being ignorant. Thanks.

Your motherboard has two PCI slots, so you're good.

About that TV Tuner - did you read the comments ? I have never heard of that brand, so to be honest I can't comment on their quality.

What I can say is that I have been using Hauppauge and AVerMedia tv tuners, those are established brands and are good options.

That is definantly cheap, never heard of brand either!
I have used Compro 3 times,
Theater E900F
http://www.comprousa.com/en/product/e900f/e900f.html
Comp room T300 Hybrid that not on there web site anymore.
Usb U100
http://www.comprousa.com/en/product/u100/u100.html
I can definantly recommend them, they have worked very well for over 10years.
Be careful with what pci slot type you buy, just incase you decide to go a second graphics card or three.
I have an issue getting mine into the server because of a sata raid card.

The Hauppauge cards have always had good reviews as well.

But yes theses do cost more, although the usb ones are fairly cheap and can work well.rolleyes.gif

Thanks, I ordered the one from tiger direct just to see how it is. However, when I ordered it I was offered a $20 rebate on that purchase, therefore making it cost in total $3.20.
