Help review this rig before I pull the trigger

Hey guys, need advice before I destroy my wallet with this rig. http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=21777867

Any glaring inconsistencies that my noob brain has overlooked? (I'm really quite partial to the case, so you prolly wont convince me there)

RAM- I've heard that 1.5v ram is good for Ivy Brdge, should I go to the 1.35 v that mushkin offers?

GPU- I'm going to buy the gigabyte or the ASUS DCUII 670 when one or the other becomes available.

Thanks everyone!

(edit: changed the link because I was a noob)

The link you provided leads to a log in page, so I can't comment on your list yet.

1.35v RAM is better because it's probably made using a newer manufacturing process like the 30nm Samsungs. Those Samsungs overclock really well. I don't know who makes the memory chips in the Mushkins, but it could very well be Samsung too.

The GTX 670 is an excellent choice and those two brands are very good! You can also consider MSI, they have been making really good graphics cards in the last few years, and also EVGA.

Nifty. I changed the link so it should work now.

I think i'll go with the lower voltage ram then.

I would go with MSI if they ever got themselves to release their twin frozr version, but I can't see that happening soon.

Looks good to me! You might even be able to step down you power supply to a lower wattage if you wanted to save yourself some money, unless you plan on SLI down the road. Have fun with your build!

PS- Nice to see a fellow Tucsonan here! thumb.gif

Looks good, but beware some people have been complaining about Corsair's H60, H80 and H100's pumps making rattling noises, so keep that in mind. There is a thread about it here on OCN.

As to the DVD re-writer, I don't know how Lite-On has been lately, but they used to be a bit loud. I have been using Nec / Sony Optiarc drives and they are good.

Looks real nice, the parts I've picked out look pretty similar. It's all the extras that get ya though...keyboard, fans, fan controller, OS, the list goes on...
Especially with a 670 you can probably go to a 650W psu. 750 isn't insanely overkill, but I don't think it's necessary.

I'm probably going to SLI in the future when the price of the 670's go down, and there's a coupon code for the PSU to get it down to $110 so yeah. I know its overkill but I'm futureproofing smile.gif And I'm pretty lucky with already having keyboard/monitor and stuff. Also my school gives windows 7 away free to engineers!

@crazedsilence I was almost sure that tucson had no real computer enthusiasts, glad to be proven wrong

@tpi2007 hmm, I'll definitely read up about the noise issue, and I'll take a loot at other DVD drives too

Land the Capstone 650 Modular for $120. Better PSU, and 650w is alot more than needed even for 2 670's. It's build quailty is exceptional.

You can save $17 on the H100 by ordering it on Amazon

600T's really nice but $166 shipped after MIR is quite expensive.

Nice build.
