Help me choose a 120hz gaming monitor!

Thread Starter
I'm pretty much down to two monitors. The viewsonic is cheaper with Newegg's 15% off deal. I also like that the viewsonic comes with speakers. Even if they are crappy, sometimes I just want to play my iTunes while i'm doing other things in the room. For the viewsonic, the speakers and the fact that it comes with 3D glasses is a positive.

ViewSonic V3D245 23.6" (2ms and 120hz)

BenQ XL2420T 24" (2ms and 120hz)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824014270

I was leaning towards the BenQ until I found out about the Viewsonic. Does anyone have the viewsonic, or able to find a review geared towards gaming? I will be using this monitor for competitive FPS gaming so I need it to be fast.

Any thoughts or help would be appreciated thumb.gif

If competitive FPS gaming is your thing than the BenQ wins hands down.

Has the V3D245 even been properly tested to conclude that? rolleyes.gif

Yeah go with the BenQ,if you go on 3d vision forums you will see people having trouble with the viewsonic. I went with the asus vg278h cuz i wanted a 27 inch monitor but i almost went with the BenQ which is good gaming monitor also.

Why do people talk about the BenQ having overprocessed images and washed out colors? Like I said, speed is #1 priority but it sounds like the viewsonic has better color, is a thinner monitor, and is just as fast (2ms). Is it a reach to assume that?

Because it does. The colour presets are pretty meh compared to the 23" Samsung and Asus 120hz displays. There are no informative reviews for the viewsonic, yet. @ 420$ the XL2420T is over priced since may places places sell it for 400$.

Unless you really want a matte display the Asus VG236H 3D Vision Bundle is a really good deal right now on new egg

Review: http://wecravegamestoo.com/forums/gadgetry-electronics-discussion/9014-asus-vg236h-120hz-3d-monitor-review.html

I have both the Asus and BenQ, the Asus has much better default colours and less ghosting. Samsung s23A700D is the fastest 23" but it has more input lag than both the Asus and BenQ.

I have the Benq xl2420t and enjoy it a lot. I also have a korean ips next to it and yeah the colors are not as good as it but i hardly think it is bad either. I vote for the benq!

I love my monitor, problem is it takes 10 seconds to turn on.
... and the glossy finish...
Not sure how mine compares to other brands of course.

Thanks for all the comments.

I won't consider a glossy monitor, my room is too light and it just bothers me. That asus does look very comparable to the BenQ but damn it is ugly. biggrin.gif

The benq certainly is good, I'm looking for one atm mainly cause I want a 27" and this one looks promising.
