G3RG, let's disect some numbers on this. It sounds like it would work. So, we need PPD for these chips.

Down the road, I think it would be worth looking to expand a category for chips like these if we get enough to fill a category since they really are the elite chips in TC. But, again, not right now. I would fully support that idea though. I think that category would be something that is the most elite in TC, and way worthy of it's own category.

So here is what we have:

i7 3930K - 5.0-5.3GHz - SS phase change - v7 client/win7 HP - 16GB 1600MHz CL8 - ~65K PPD <--- Not sure what wu this is. We need more SB-E numbers.

and something like this:

2500K, 4900MHz, 4GB 2133MHz 9-10-9-28-1T, 1.54Vcore, integrated GPU, Noctua NH-D14 triple fan, Ubuntu 10.10, CLI, 2.6.35-30

Against 2 of these:

Ubuntu 11.04 Native.

i7 2600k 4.8GHz with 2133 CAS 9 Memory

p6099 41-43k

p6098 39-41k

p6097 38-40k

The best case scenario with the figures above is: i7 2600k doing about 40k PPD x2=80k against a lack of PPD numbers for SB-E doing 65k and one of these other chips doing about 28k= 93k

So far, I don't like this idea, but I will wait for more data. Here are my thoughts right now. Since we are moving 920's to 2500k/X6, I think 970 and 980 should be removed and added to a speparate category with SB-E. We could look at making one of the i7 categories these right now, and cut out the extra 2600k cat. Again, stats cannot accomidate 7 categories right now, so it is only fair to do one of these 2 things in my opinion so far, or we could cut them all out for now and look to add them to TC in a few months. I want to see more PPD numbers though.

Yep, I hope that more PPD numbers can be provided so we can make sure if it is, or is not the right moved to make right now.

I am looking for some feedback on the category idea's too when people have some time.

Nothing here that sways my opinion. zodac, what are your thoughts?
