I'm piecing together my first loop, so I'm no expert. I have a question for you though, why such small tubing? I'm looking at 1/2" ID, 3/4" OD. It jacks the price up, tubing and fittings, but the flow is much less restricted. The smallest ID I'm looking at is 3/8" with a 5/8" OD. Higher flow, thicker tubing walls.

This is what my list is looking like so far:
Koolance RP-452X2 w/Pump -- $206.98
EK Supreme HF -- $72.95
XSPC EXS360 -- $59.95
4x Bitspower G1/4 1/2" ID Comp Fittings -- $38.00
2x Bitspower G1/4 1/2" ID 90-degree Dual Rotary -- $37.98

Total -- $477.94

It's a bit over the original budget I set for myself, but after doing a lot of reading I want to get it right the first time. It's a bit overkill for a single CPU loop, but it can easily be expanded by adding a second pump and either go dual loop or single/serial loop for the GPUs/MOSFET/RAM.

to be honest, the "gain" i see to be 5-8° drop in temp. it'll sustain temperatures
longer, due to the sheer larger capacity. if you think it'll drop 20° you got something
else to ponder. the customs are for aestitics more so. controlling the room temp
(ambient temp) will be the biggest factor. the higher the ambient, the better the custom
loop can be. but again, there will be no 10° drop in overal temperature.
ive owned and tested all of the H-series and the H100 is the best budget liquid
cooling solution. but it doesnt fix OC errors and ginormus OC vcore voltages.
with that said, i love my custom loop and modding from that will be all eyecandy.

Yea, I just had those in mind (3/8, 1/4) from when i started off by looking at the rasa kits. I will defiantly get something larger now that you mention it.

As for performance, yea I figured that would be the case. Already heard something along those lines. But as you said one of the major reason I am getting it is for aesthetics and also to maybe incorporate other things into the loop in the future.

So what about the 2x thick 140mm double rad and what fans should I use with those? Is it worth it?

Also any suggestion on green tubing and some kind of fittings for my green/black color scheme? I guess I am looking for 3/8, 1/2.

the NZXT 140, noctua F14, bitfenix pro 140, xiggy 140 are quiet performance fans.
worth? to me, no.. the only factor is what is the future expansion like?
GPU added into loop? mosfet blocks? but if you are itching to spend the cash
the 140.2 radiator is fine with the bitfenix fans and please use 1/2" hose. that
3/8 is so old and antiquated. keep your tubing from crossing as much as possible.
remember to leave enough on the bay reservior to fill.
i use 1/2" barb fitting with 7/16 tubing with no clamps. black fittings for your app
would look good with the green coolant.

Well since its all about aesthetics with this upgrade I am thinking about getting a uv green primochill ice collant. I know distilled water is the best for temps but this is supposed to stay within 2C of water.

Also do I need silver coils if I use this coolant? This was noted at the bottom of the product description...

I'm not sure how good the Coolgates are, so I can't comment on that. I would recommend looking at the HWLabs SR-1 280, I know HWLabs has top-notch quality in their radiators, and always some of the best performers.

Tubing: Either 3/8" ID 5/8" OD or 1/2" ID 3/4" OD. The difference between these two is negligible at best in terms of performance and flow rates. The thicker walls will help with preventing kinking when bending.

Compression fittings: Make sure they match the size of the tubing you end up getting.

Fans: Martin's Liquid Lab did a test of various 140mm fans. They all more or less performed the same, but some had better harmonics than others. Meaning, they just sounded better.

140mm radiator fan test. The Aerocool Shark 140s look pretty nice to me.

I also decided not to worry about a thicker rad because it looks like their main function is for double loops therefore it wouldn't really help me atm. I had to cut back my original pricing somewhere so I ended up backing down the pump. I realize this is a critical element in a loop but its a cpu only loop and I am assuming that it will still be better than the small little pump in my h100.

Yea, if you look in though my recent post, I had to "mod" the h100 rad to fit on top of the 140s already in the case. I will probably have to widen it a slight bit to get a full 140 sized rad in there though.
