Microcenter now carrying the 27" 2560x1440 Korean IPS monitors - Page 43

The Auria looks somewhat clearer/crisper due to the lack of AG coating. In terms of color they are practically identical. I'd say you can see a -tiny- bit of banding on the Auria on a pure gradient. (none on the HP.) Nothing you would notice at all in daily use, even working in Photoshop it wouldn't put me off. I don't see any reason to spend the $ on the HP unless you don't want the glossy finish on the Auria. (Note that I have no idea on screen refresh for gaming - if that is a concern at all.)

Ditto on double-checking the cable. Assuming you are using the one that came with it? What video card are you running? One off-the-wall idea - Microcenter sells a 27" in nearly identical packaging that only does 1920x1080. But then you would have paid $200, not $400.

Have not tried personally, but from what I have read elsewhere people haven't had much luck with overclocking.

I got it working. I tried a different dvi cable that was running one of my other screens, And it went right to 2560x1440. I guess it's not a real dual link dvi cable I was trying to use even know it has the right pins rolleyes.gif

For future reference here's an easy way to check which type of cable you have (although as mentioned, it may have the appropriate pins but still not be wired correctly).

there are some cables that claim to be dual link(have correct number of pins and visually indistinguishable from real deal) but in fact are single link only.
and to add to my above post(no idea how to edit here) the full 1440/1600p is only available via DVI dual link(real that is), Displayport, some HDMI cables(not all) and yes(as confirmed myself(read my previous posts on previous pages)) VGA, although in case of VGA it will be an analog signal and your blurriness will depend on the quality of cable itself a lot more than in case with digital cable. ALso your card has to support that resolution via that connection

Installed one of these for a client yesterday. I was stunned by the image quality and am considering buying one myself!

So I've been searching for DAYS now... and the only information I can find on input lag testing is that single post on the [H] forum claiming 60+ms input lag...

Are there any concrete results anywhere yet? If the input lag is bearable enough to be used for FPS gaming (not super over the top competitive gaming) I'm going to grab one from the local MC this weekend.

I'm with you. I've been trying to find a real review as well. I'm pretty confident total input lag will be identical to all the other monitors that utilize scalers. That is between 1 and 2 frames.

Initially I thought that was going to be a big deal for me but plenty of people game and have gamed on monitors with similar or worse input lag. I don't think it'll be a big deal to me personally so ill be ordering online.

Also found this vid.

There's a slo-mo version that really exaggerates the lag. In real time it seems acceptable to me. I don't care enough about my fps gaming to pay more for a 2720mdp or zr2740w which are the only multi input monitors I know of with less than a frame of lag.

finally got my Saphire 7970 Ghz edition(if u read my previous posts i was waiting for it to replace the (great)HIS 6970) and i could not find a single dead pixel(spend over 30 mins on tests) so i am very happy with this monitor. I have it hooked up via DVI DL and my other 1080p via DVI SL. Didnt do eyefinity but is it even possible or makes sense to do eyefinity with this monitor and 24" 1080p one? Anyhow been playing Far Cry 3 on this puppy(great game(much better than i though even and more beautiful)-should hold me over til GTA5 arrives) and if you on the verge of buying this monitor all i can say is go and get it. My 1080p(Dell pro series) pales in comparison to colors on this thing. Didnt notice any lag at all(far cry 3 @ maxed out settings getting consistent 60fps @ 1440p) it didnt get overly hot(after playing for 10 hours straight) so far i am loving this. And piece of mind that if anything does wrong i can just replace it at my local MC and have brand new one in less than 1 hour - its worth it definitely. Besides, cheapest Korean multi-port/perfect pixel on ebay(with same panel i mean) would cost you around $500 and that would have a 1 year fight/send it in/wait forever warranty. Really a no brainer for me, fighting my disire to get 2 more for tri-finity(would probably need to get 2nd 7970 then as well so = $$$ frown.gif Go buy it and support great american retailer - Microcenter!
