IPS Will be perfect for WOW. I use my Auria on wow. IPS is not for PROFESSIONAL twitch gamers. However for average use, it will likely be the better monitor.

In all honesty, you can adjust to anything. I do fine in Planetside 2, BF3, War Thunder, Path of Exile, Minecraft, SW:TOR, Day Z, etc. with this 60hz IPS panel. There's no reason you can't do MMO and youtube on a 1440p.

Wait until you see BF3 in 1440p with the settings all jacked out. It's absolutely breathtaking.

Congrats! TBH I haven't heard of many reports of dead pixels on the matte Aurias. They seem to have a pretty good track record so far.

Doing a bit more digging, I'm almost certain these share a panel with either the new U2713HMs ( LM270WQ1-SLB2) or the HP ZR2740W v2 ( LM270WQ1-SDDB). They're the only LED matte panels that match the Aurias' listed specs (sRGB color space/maximum luminance etc). If the Aurias are 10-bit (8-bit + AFRC) as advertised, they'd have to be from the HPs since the Dells are only 8-bit.

I can't be bothered to take mine apart and find out though. tongue.gif

It isn't just no dead pixels, i haven't seen any reports of backlight bleed either. People may actually want to buy matte over glossy as it appears to be a better grade panel.

So does this monitor use PWM dimming or now? Im shocked how no one has done the pencil wave test at medium to low brightness....

Look, its simple, you wiggle a pencil in front of the monitor with a white background at medium to low brightness, if you see a strobe effect it uses PWM dimming which will ruin your eyes...

You wont see the strobing effect at 100% brightness since the LEDs are always on.

Not really. All the boxes are outside ( no plastic handles smile.gif )

Thanks! I'm actually thinking about doing the removing-the-AG-cover-surgery but I'll probably will try to calibrate the colors with my preference for the meantime.

I will try to do this pencil thing and report back. But so far, I have not experience that eye strain / mild headache anymore (always did after playing a game using an LCD/LED) which I think is a very good thing.
