In case of Dell U2713HM which is same price as asus one, you really think it isnt worth it? I would rather pay $300 for monitor which will survive few aurias, has outstanding build quality and support and more while some auria made from paper on tree in africa will die in year.

Done.

Hooked up and everything is working fine. True colors came out and I'm so happy to report that it's still free eye-strain.

I guess it depends on your budget. Considering you can get a 3 year warranty from MC, it's a difficult call. It would have to last 6 years to make it worth it (and that also depends on the auria dying within three years), as in 6 years OLED are likely to be affordable.

Interesting, although a bit confusing at the same time. Do the newer U2711s have lighter AG? Mine was a revision A01 so it's pretty old, but the AG on my Auria is visibly lighter.

At any rate, even though this is using the U2711 panel, but it can't be CCFL.

It's about an inch thinner and 10lbs lighter than the U2711 and has no warm up time.

It also consumes about 50W less (according to my Belkin meter) and doesn't give off nearly as much heat.

That said, trying the "pencil" test showed no lines/distortion either.

The one thing this brings to my mind is. Since Dell isn't using this panel anymore are we getting the A+ grade panels?

I mean we haven't seen a Matte one with a dead pixel yet so far as i've read. I don't see this being unreasonable as LG would want to liquidate these panels.

Seems plausible and would explain why these have been in such good shape. Even more reason to recommend these if true biggrin.gif

Whats the chance of damage coming to this panel removing the AG coating is it hard?

What are the risks of exposing the polarizer?

- Take your time. After putting all the soaked (with distilled water) paper towels, it is mandatory to wait for at least 5 hours before you even try to remove the AG coat.
- I would say the only risk of exposing the polarizer would be lack of patience. Do not try remove the AG by force, peel it off gradually. Again.... take your time.

That would make a lot of sense. I'm going to go pick mine up tomorrow (if I'm called off work), or Monday morning. It's obviously the older of the panels (production in 2009), but I'll take a '09 A+ panel over an '11 A- panel.

@s3v3n

Do you find that the difference is remarkable? I don't think I'll remove mine, as I'm sure it would void the warranty.... Hypothetically.. if you had another one, would you remove it again?
