Keep in mind that A10-4600m can turbo up to 3.2GHz

Turbo boost should be turned off for a fair comparison

rolleyes.gifrolleyes.gifrolleyes.gif

this turbo thing was never an issue when intel had its first gen turbo and amd did not (in deneb vs. nehalem).

you are three years too late in the discussion where "turbo makes for an unfair" comparison.

why is it turbo only becomes an issue when amd gains performance w/ it??

You do realize that the comparison is between 2 AMD processors right?

rolleyes.gifrolleyes.gif here you are again.. lol.
why does it matter now? anyone complaining about turbo is discounting the fact that in processor design,
pipeline length is leveraged for clocks and tdp.

ignoring tubo capabilities makes for a skewed comparison between cpu capabilities.
but then again, i wouldnt be surprised considering intel fans get easily suckered by meaningless arbitrary numbers spewed out by useless software.

Would you do the world a favor and delete your system32 folder? You're missing the entire point of what they're talking about.

What does Sysmark have to do with comparing 2 AMD processors? thinking.gif

I didn't see anyone mention it, let alone request it.

It's been common knowledge around here not to take Sysmark seriously anyway.

I would understand your rage and frustration if someone said "compare Ivy Bridge with Turbo to Trinity without turbo using Sysmark 2012 only!"

Layoff the haterade dude, go outside and enjoy the sunshine. thumb.gif

What are are talking about ?!

If you want to do clock for clock comparison between the FX and A10 then they both should be clocked the same (without turbo boost). That was my whole point.

Do you see any error in my point ?

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-fx-pentium-apu-benchmark,3120-9.html

In a few of those benchmarks, the FX-4100 @ 4.5Ghz is equal to the 955 @ 4Ghz. My FX-4170 is running at 4.8Ghz. You'd hope that it'd be faster than a 4.5Ghz FX-4100 then.

As for the clock advantage..It means nothing on its own, just like IPC. People go on and on about IPC for Bulldozer and Ghz for IB but they're completely useless numbers. Comparing BD to PhII, sure, it has lower IPC but it generally clocks a lot higher (Not stable, but yeah. Lets see Phenom II do that on an air cooler that was in its prime in 2007.) and it's the opposite with IB. Sure, it won't hit as high in terms of Ghz under air but it sure as hell will still (generally) beat a Sandy 200Mhz faster than it.

So basically, he's running the 4170 1.2 GHZ faster ( Under water? ), if it wasn't smoother over the x3 720 AMD would have gone beyond backwards.
In Tom's benches they have the 955 clocked at 4.0 vs a 4100 @ 4.5.
Also, we'll have to ask if the 4th core was unlocked? Or if it was running as an x3...

I was testing games that only use 2 cores? CPU was at 3.8 due to colder temperatures where I was testing.

And my GPU is under water, CPU is under a TRUE.

And what if the FX is running Turbo boost to 3.2Ghz as well?

More to the point, Turbo is hard to control. If you want a clock-to-clock comparison, its better to disable turbo and downclock one to meet the other.
