Yeah im feeling a little tinge of disappointment myself, but then again, what were we expecting? We already know AMD isn't going to make any advancements on Intel on the CPU front. GPU is decent for sure, but I would have been happier if it decimated the HD 4000 in every possible way, which it doesnt. But then again, Im hard to please biggrin.gif

All in all I think Trinity is a well rounded mobile chip. I think AMD's strategy to provide "balanced" performance with a good-enough CPU and a good igpu is going to pay off well for them in the mobile market, and Trinity will continue the success that llano has been having.

But to be honest I feel like this launch is forgettable. Im much more excited for release of their performance desktop cpus based on the Piledriver arch. Im gonna be biting my nails for weeks before that launch. Id love to see a 8-core piledriver stable at 5ghz that isnt going to set the atmosphere on fire with temps and power thumb.gif

Oh man...what is going to be the price of the laptops with dual graphics. I'm thinking of grabbing a clevo with an i7-3000 chip with a 650m and overclocking it. How well does Llano overclock to begin with and will piledriver overclock nicely as well?

If it is 300 bucks cheaper for similar game performance, I'm down. But I wonder if you'll get such performance out of a 11.6 in model?

The GPU thoroughly spanks HD 4000 in some games and is neck-and-neck in others...bad drivers?

The 650M offers equal performance to the GTX 560M. The GPU listed here is nowhere near that level unfortunately. frown.gif

I'm not complaining, but I was expecting more.

One thing that really struck me was the single-thread cinebench score nearly matching that of the fx-8150; however because of m-space's crap core scaling the multithreaded performance still lags far behind intel (35w trinity = 17w sb)

All this hype about "how powerful Trinity will be upon release" made it sound like, to me at least, it'll just crush everything on the market and be this revolutionary new thing. It showed that it matched the HD4000... which really, again, is extremely underwhelming. I expected the CPU performance to be higher as well... IPC for the Piledriver cores are still low as feared. I'm still holding onto AMD with SOME faith that they'll come around... however, I'm skeptical at best by this point...
Realistically, this offers good performance if it were priced similarly to the Llano options... but only if they are priced around that area. Games can be played well if you have a good set of RAM like the mobile Corsair Vengeance sets. If you can buff the system's memory bandwidth a bit more, it'll probably show a bit higher performance than what was given here today.

I can say that what you are feeling is what most people will feel strictly looking at the CPU portion. About the overall chip its better. Also for basic users who want to work with simple productivity, browsing, video and light gaming the CPU is reasonable( though its not yet optimum) . AMD needs to work on the following advantages - price, good battery life, better software drivers and a rapidly growing list of GPU accelerated apps. AMD need to make more software developers adopt the HSA / OpenCL route and get more apps GPU accelerated, esp video editing and photo editing cause lots of ordinary people are using the PC for working with their personal videos and photos. AMD needs to make sure retail laptops pricing don't cross USD 650 for the best A10 trinity designs. then they will make good sales. smile.gif

If you want good gaming performance your only option is intel core i7 with discrete GPUs. AMD Trinity is strictly a budget buy for people looking at an affordable laptop with light gaming.

Piledriver is a flop. Looks like my next upgrade is going to be Intel, whenever that is.
