hi guys,
I wouldn't say I'm completely new to web design but I've had this issue for a while now and ended up coding around it but now it's getting annoying.

Essentially I've taken out the margin and padding of the body and div tags from the get-go but for some reason the main div tag still leaves an upper margin which is starting to get annoying because if i want to change the background color of the main div tag there is still a margin left on the top.

Here's the structure of the site. The id tags are applied to the respective div tags, mainbody includes the other 3.

I haven't been able to get around this, I guess I'm not as experienced as I thought, can anybody give me a hand with this?

Thanks,
Alex

SOLVED

Turns out the 'p' tag had to be included in the reset, which I still don't understand why but it fixed the issue smile.gif

In case anyone else has this issue, here's the reset that fixed it:
Code:
html, body, div, span, h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6, p, blockquote, pre,
a, font, img, ul, li
{
        margin: 0;
        padding: 0;
        border: 0;
        outline: 0;
        font-size: 100%;
        vertical-align: baseline;
        background: transparent;
}
