A single card is still a good bet. Get a Sapphire HD 7950 OC (950 Mhz) at USD 409. You can push it to 1200+ with sapphire trixx and extra voltage. It should play any game on your triple monitor at reasonably high settings. Don't expect to max out settings in BF3. Best case would be Ultra without MSAA. But that should be the most demanding game. Other games should be easier to max out.

GTX440 and newer have connections for three monitors. I'm not saying you'd get great performance from such a pathetic gfx card, but they have HDMI, VGA and DVI connectors on a GTX440, so at least you can connect three monitors to it if you really wanted

But any, I'm not suggesting that card at all for the OP.

If the OP has $400 to spend on a gfx card to connect to his three monitors and wants the best bang for buck - it is hard to go past a GTX670 atm. The GTX670 is a beast for $400, overclocking it gives you better performance then a GTX680, which is pretty crazy for a $400 gfx card

Money vs performance= 480 SLi win.

Most enthusiasts do not care for heat or power consumption, it is mostly petty people.
480's are not that bad at all, and can be tamed if you have a bit of knowledge on how airflow and cooling works.

Slap custom coolers on them, and you will not exceed 50c on stock clocks.
