I'm pretty sure it's actual instantaneous, based upon the following assumptions:
1) It works across the entire universe and is still described as instantaneous
2) Article states that the information doesn't need to travel through space, therefore can't be intercepted. If it does not need to travel, it is not limited by the speed of light.
My question is whether the state of the photon is dependant upon observation, like the Schrodingers Cat thought experiment. The article mentioned that observing a value for vertical polarisation in one of the pair means that the other will immediately flip to horizontal polarisation. Is that to say that both photons are neither vertical or horizontally polarised until observed, much like the cat is neither dead nor alive until observed?
