Just bad cards or bad psu?

Hello

So I got my second 7950 black edition yesterday. First one I had some black and pink screen issues. So I got the new one and installed it and was playing some Skyrim just fine today. However I have started to get some issues where the screen will turn black and then maybe 10-15 seconds after I will get a BSOD. I have tried to change the pci adapters on the PSU but that doesnt seem to be changing the issue. Are these just bad cards? If it happens one more time I think I am going to just return to newegg and eat the 15% restocking fee. I cant imagine Id get two dud cards in a row.

When I get the BSODs Im just web surfing, not doing anything strenuous.

Temps on the card are also normal when I get the blue screen. There is no recent dumb though in the windows/minidumps which I thought was odd.

Think its a bad card or bad psu?

These things never happened when I was running crossfire 5770s. Id think a 750 watt power supply should suffice with this card

Im kind of out of ideas!

Lower the clocks all the way down on the card. Then see if you get the driver CTD. CTD = unstable card for X reason. Need to find what that X reason is obviously and that's where it is tricky. Lowering clocks will reduce the power draw on the card, lowering load on the PSU dramatically. What happens when you test this?

**Btw, disable browser and flash acceleration. Crashing from the browser... the browser forces the clocks on the card to switch to differing powerstates, making the card rev up and down. It's best to avoid that.

How do I disable the acceleration? Think that could be the issue?

Also when I get the bsod it doesn't say display or hardware error. All it says is there was something wrong with my system and it shutdown to make sure nothing gets destroyed

I also read having msi ab installed can be an issue?

disable hardware accel by right clicking a flash vid and youll see the option.

since u have afterburner installed and running, how is it configured? perhaps your card is idling at a too low voltage? do you have a 3d and 2d profile set?? how often does the bsod seem to happen? is it ONLY at idle?

I only installed afterburner to check temps. I didn't change any of the settings. I don't have any profiles set. Didn't happen for the 20 minutes I was playing skyrim for. But when browsing the web it will black screen and then blues screen within 5 minutes. It's not at "idle" but when browsing around. One of the times I clicked on afterburner and the pc locked up instantly. Seems to be sitting around 300mhz at idle. Not sure on the voltages

That's . There's also browser accel, disable it under options, advanced tab.
