I'd like to think of myself as a pretty well educated mobile consumer.. I'd also like to think of myself as a mobile power user as I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty. I've currently got an EVO 3D I purchased from the OCN marketplace thumb.gif. Fun phone but I'm looking for something new and itching to use up a upgrade credit as I've been sitting on it for 5 months now which is unlike me mad.gif. I'll have another full upgrade credit December first so this phone will only be a bridge until then. That being said I'll briefly outline my thoughts and I hope that you guys will take a few moments to respond with your own on the matter. TIA for any time you contribute to this thread cheers.gif

Galaxy Nexus by Samsung | $149.99 - $50 G.Wallet | 1,850mAh

smile.gif Pure Andorid,
smile.gif epic ROM support
smile.gif proven OC to 1.4GHz w/undervolt
smile.gif official extended 2,100mAh battery

frown.gif Old but new 2 me

EVO 4G LTE by HTC | $149.99 - $10 G.Wallet | 2,000mAh

350

smile.gif Will have solid ROM support
smile.gif Will OC & Undervolt
smile.gif Manufactured by HTC
smile.gif Bleeding Edge

I've always wanted a Nexus device and I think this is the best chance for me to get one.. A big issue I'm having is getting over the price of each device. It's hard to justify the GNex looking at a $150 EVO4GLTE no matter the bloat and early adoption taxes.. I am a member of OCN and bleeding edge performance is in my DNA. The thing is my EVO 3D is fast enough@ 1.5GHz to do what I throw at now but ROM support has been disappointing for a CDMA HTC device.

Edit - I also wanted to mention the Google Wallet credit must be submitted by 05/22/12.. The EVO4GLTE hits shelves 05/18/12 but I can't imagine them lowering the price or overall cost of the GNex all that soon.

EVO4GLTE 149.99 -10 G.Wallet +35 activation = 175.99
GNex 149.99 -50 G.Wallet + 36 Activation = 135.99

I'd go with the EVO 4G LTE, the Galaxy Nexus is having the same weak signal aka LOS as the Samsung Galaxy S2 is having!

Thanks for the heads up, that's actually the first I heard of such an issue. I look into it and it seems a small number of devices were effected and an overall patch FD02 was released early May to remedy this issue. http://community.sprint.com/baw/community/buzzaboutwireless/phones-and-devices/samsung/galaxy_nexus/blog/2012/05/01/galaxy-nexus-software-updates A buddy of mine has the GNex and it often outperforms my EVO3D in 3G, 4G, and Wifi tests. thumb.gif

Well its running on the same network, a lot of factors come in to place W/ 3g and 4g speeds.... anyway I would get your friend to come over and both if you go to system settings and click about phone then click status. You will see signal strength measured in dBm, hopefully the Nexus will be on par or better than the EVO, but i have a feeling you're going to see the will have greater signal strength with the EVO. If you do this please let me know what your results are! thumb.gifthumb.gif

I would stick a sharp object in my eye before ever using an iPhone tongue.gif. I ended up going with the EVO.. I got an additional $50 cash back from BOA thanks to Add It Up and WireFly. I couldn't pass up the improvements, the low price, and the Dropbox space. I'll post pics when it arrives, thanks everyone thumb.gif

Now, I know I'm diggin up an old thread (2 weeks, but w/e), but isn't the Galaxy S II Epic equipped with better hardware than both of these phones, even though it's older?
What would be the benefit spending $$$ on either if you can root the SII and keep it just as up to date, but with supposedly better hardware? I'm making the move to sprint in the very near future, and it seems like these are the phones people keep suggesting, but the SII doesn't look like it should be kicked to the curb... am I just kookoo.gif ?

You forget the 720p screen of the evo lte. I came from the og evo. My gf has the gs2 through sprint. If you plan on flashing roms I would go with the lte as the community will be larger than most of the other phones.
