This is microstutter:

Nope, first and third video portray a severe lack of VRAM, second video portrays a severe lack of performance and probably VRAM as well.

Microstutter are variances in time per frame shown, not low framerate. The effect of microstutter is that a measured high framerate like 60 fps feels like 30 fps because the delay between different frames is uneven.

I for one do not really notice it, inside the nV control panel are varients of SLI rendering protcols can these be used to minimize or possibly iliminate this phenomna ???

Not aware of this option in the red camp, I have to say I am thrilled with the SLI prformance I am getting

I know for a fact my SLi setup has no stutter.

I had 4870 CFX... now that was a stutter fest.
6990.... stuuter and bad scaling, not to mention the damn noise.

Only AMD GPU that was reliable was a trusty sapphire 5670 512mb.

That's microstutter, and maybe a lack of VRAM causing those huge dips.

I had microstutter with my 7970s (have a thread about it somewhere), I had to use a 3rd party app to change my flip queue to 0 to make things bearable without vsync, but I could never play with vsync though, the stutter was too noticeable. My SLI 680s, on the otherhand, are quite smooth. I have none of the issues with my 680 SLI that I had with my 7970 crossfire. I've already posted frametime benchmarks for 680 SLI showing how smooth it is...

Don't even get me started on the instability of AMD drivers in regard to 7970 eyefinity. Constant bluescreens when playing some titles (bf3, in particular), among other tedious issues. Simply unacceptable, and my 7970 crossfire turned out to be a $1400 disappointment, once I figured in the cost of the cards at release, blocks, and backplates. Not to mention a troubleshooting timesink--I work in IT, the last thing I want to do is work on troubleshooting bad software once I get home, too. So I simply changed the drivers and cards to Nvidia, everything else stayed the same, even the OS, and have not had a bluescreen since.

One should simply sift through both the 670 and 7970 owners groups before making a decision such as this. Maybe even the 680 owners group if there isn't much data in the 670 group yet. I think you'll find that this reading will validate what I am saying in regard to instability on AMD's part.

Don't forget, one's hardware is only as good as the software which supports it.

Some frametimes benchies of a few games on my system--680 SLI @ 5760x1080. I was playing normally in all of them, all have vsync enabled except blackops, I have blackops capped at 90 fps.
