problems OC P5GD1 MB over 5%

i hope somebody can assist me here. i have looked everywhere and tried numerous things. i cant figure it out but would really like to.i have experimented alot with computers in the last few years even building the one i am using now. i love it. but now im trying something new to me and need help. any help is greatly appreciated

ok tio start i have a maxtor IDE HD in this current system and i was able to OC with no problems. i actually had it OC 15% trhrough the AI NOS software that comes with these MB's... i was running 3.5Ghz on this 3.0Ghz cpu and temos were fine the comp booted up fine. all was well.

well i decided i wanted toi try raid0 so i bought 2 of these
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 (Perpendicular Recording) ST3250620AS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148144

i installed both HD's set them up as member disk (by holding down CTRL+I during post) created the raid volume and all that worked great.
but then i entered the ITE 8212 setup utility by holding down CTRL+E during post.. well that comes up with 5 options. i go through the options and everything is blank. such as when i type 1 for the auto configuration it tells me i have 0 unused drives.
mabye it is supposed to be this way. so i try to boot up windows and all goes well even when i hit the F6 option and install the ITE8212 drivers for the HDD's. but then after installing the drivers it says it can not find any hard drives.
so what i did is reset my bios for IDE settings instead of RAID and then installed windows and it showed both hard drives seperately. so i just installed windows on one HD and using the other for staorage. and it is fast but i can just imagine how fast it would be if i could set up raid0...
if anybody could help i would greaty appreciate it.

and the newest problem is now since i have these HDD's in my computer i cant overclock my cpu more then 5%. if i do when i restart my comp it says Overclocking failed and i have to set it back to 5% or less in bios before i can boot up. but i did notice that when i OC more then 5% the bios doesent detect my HDD....
if i had known i would have this probelm i would have bought more IDE drives instead. but from researching i have done so far i think it can be done its just finding a way around whatever is giving me the problems.

i have opnly OC'd with the AI NOS i have never done it manually through BIOS but would give it a try with some help...
i have spent alot on this comp and wouldnt want to burn it up hehe.

just spent more buying this and 4 cameras

thanks in advance for everything and your patience and consideration in my situation

Try this. STOP oc'ing with AI Nos, it's crap for a good solid oc. Read the Intel Overclocking Guide in the Intel CPU section for a basic understanding of the manual overclocking process and if you need any help, just holler. However, to help you with your HDD problem, try setting the IDE Detect Mode from [QUICK] to [STANDARD] as quick will obviously be faster, but will occasionally miss detecting some of your IDE Drives, beit optical or an HDD.

Get back to me on how this works.

Something tells me that you are getting the same problem as selectodude in that the P5GD1 doesn't allow us to lock the SATA bus so it becomes unstable at higher FSB speeds. You migggght have some settings fudged up in the ITE RAID setup so read through your mobo manual and check, but I would put my money on it being a SATA RAID issue. I have seperate SATA drives and I have no problems at all... Also try rearranging where your drives are located. Try making both drives Masters or one master/one slave in different locations. Some things are just finicky like that, some slots work better than others and such...

Get back to me.

i treid all that. i even tried only one hard drive switching all 4 ports.
same error message.

tried to change the onboard devices config
ITE8212 controller from IDE mode to Raid mode.. didnt work
its in IDE now

jumperfree config
ai booster support -- enabled
AI overclocking -- overclock profile
overclock options -- 5% will not work abovce that =(
performance standard (have also tried auto and turbo)

IDE config
configure sata as --- IDE
onboard IDE operate mode -- enhanced (have tried changing that didnt work)
enhanced mode support on -- Sata Mode (have also tried switching that)

also my HDD's are SATAII but i have the jumper in them to limit to 1.5GBps since my MB is only 1.5 compatible...

Well, manual overclocking may work better, but even if it doesn't help with the HDD problem, it's better to OC manually anyway. But ok, here's what I suggest you do to manually OC:

Go into BIOS, under "JumperFree Config" go to the AI Overclocking and set it as [MANUAL] (a new list of options should appear), then set your PCIE frequency to 105mhz, set the PCI Freq. to 33.33Mhz, set "Spread Spectrum" to [Disabled], set the Performance Mode to [STANDARD], leave Chipset Core voltage as [AUTO] and FSB Term. Voltage as [AUTO]. Take vcore up one notch from the very least option (this will give you 1.4v I believe). Then raise your CPU freq. to 210 just to start. You will also see that right beneath the CPU freq. adjuster there will be a DRAM Speed adjustment box, but leave that on whatever it is for now.

Do all that and tell me what your idle, ambient, and 100% MAX load temps are and we'll see if you can go further.
