im at 10% OC at 3.3Ghz now FSB up to 880
max temp was 45 this time. i dont know why it is staying cooler.

i know before i had 15% OC and max temp never got above 60 it idled at 34-37
Yes the dram speed is supposed to change with the speed of the CPU freq. so don't worry. Were you totally stable at 440mhz on the dram this time?

Alright that sounds great. It seems that you have plenty of room to OC higher now... So go into BIOS again and under jumperfree drop the DRAM frequency down to it's lowest (330). Then go into the Chipset menu and where it says "Configure DRAM Timing by SPD" make it [DISABLED] instead of [ENABLED]. A new list of numbers should appear here. Now if you can remember the timings specified for your RAM @ stock speed(DDR400), then enter them accordingly. If not though, enter the following:

DRAM CAS# - 3.0
DRAM RAS# Precharge - 4
DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay - 4
DRAM RAS3 to Precharge - 8
DRAM Write Recovery - 4

Don't mess with ANY of the other settings in that menu after this. Press ESC and go back to jumperfree and make a jump from 220 on the CPU freq. to 230 and boot into Windows, Prime95 for 5 mins, then report back to me any errors and the temps as well as stability.

Normally/Idle temps for my CPU are ~36*C and under 100% load (two instances of Prime95) I get up to ~55*C. However, when gaming I hardly reach 50*C if that. And my MB temp @ idle is 32*C or so, 42-43*C under load.

k ill be back in a few. BTW how do you know about all this manual OCing?
how do you find out what the timings specified for your RAM @ stock speed(DDR400) are?

im gonna put in the settings you specified

I know all this because I've built several computers for my friends and also I know my way around almost every single setting in the P5GD1 BIOS from fiddling with stuff for so long. And the way you can tell is by going to Corsair's website and searching your particular model or looking on newegg for it or wherever you bought them from. I just gave you a fairly loose timing set for valueRAM since I don't know what you have running... And those timings will easily take you to DDR450 or so if you ever get up that high. But if you can find out what the timings at stock are then I can help you with improving your PC's performance via RAM speed and timings settings.

But for now, just concentrate on obtaining your MAX CPU OC while staying at a safe operating temperature.

good luck and report back with results.

im at 3.45Ghz now FSB 920

this is where i stayed at with my old HDD..
my idle temp is 42c

do you think i should keep going????

hehe

BTW i have never OC my ram before didnt see the need for it. unless you think its better?

i have 1GB and hardly ever use more then half
btw all the settings were the same excdept for the dram ras to precharge it was at 15 but i put at 8

this is my RAM

If it only peaked at 51*C then yes definately keep going. I would say take it as high as you can until prime95 maxes it out at 55*C or so... 60*C is the absolute LIMIT for prescotts like we have, so 55 is a good medium. And don't worry, we wouldn't be OC'ing your RAM, just tweaking it for speed a lil bit. But anyway, try taking your FSB up at 5mhz increments and every 10mhz you increase, go into Windows and run Prime95 for 10 minutes and document the average maximum temperature you reach.

I would say that you could get to 3.8Ghz without much trouble at this point, but since you run a CPU with a 15x multi instead of 16x like my own, 4Ghz might be a stretch. But who knows, anything is possible. Keep posting how your OC is going every time you boot into windows so I can monitor how it's going.

Good luck man!
