Look into the Savings and Loan crisis, when hundreds of bankers went to prison for committing crimes on a much smaller scale than the 600+ trillion derivatives scam they are pulling now. The banks back then were awarded 200 billion only, after which they went on a massive bribing spree and bought the best government their money could buy. Now the banks have trillions upon trillions of credit default and interest rate swaps, which they've created in order to destroy entire nations and the world for their own greed. In fact they have created over ten times (some say 15 and over) the world's GDP in derivatives. In their fantasy world of impunity it's very much possible because Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan are, in effect, the banks that control the Federal Reserve of New York.
As for capitalism: I love it. Price fixing, monopolies, lobbies (bribes and swindles), cartel forming, etc. are absolutely fantastic. The only difference between the Milton Friedman and Keynes version of unchecked money hoarding and any other -ism is our delusions and the propaganda being blasted at us.
I recommend anyone wishing to understand this system better look into the lectures of Chossudovsky, the documentary The Money Masters and, of course, the Zeitgeist films.
