Just a note to any lingering conspiracy theorists, it would be very easy to debunk the video if NASA tried to pass the mojave as Mars. Not to mention the fact that geologists (etc) from around the world dissect the data from these rovers.
I watched the video, and the landing for the rover is the most ridiculously elaborate thing I've seen yet. It seems like so much could go wrong with that setup that they need to rethink it. Also, have they even attempted a test of that on earth? How do they know it will even work other than computer sims?

If it isn't I'm switching teams. It's wearing a bra though and has hips much wider than waist, so pretty sure I'm safe. tongue.gif

That's only 1 minute piece of their very elaborate landing mechanism. SRSLY, I've thought of 3 easier ways to land it, that would be less complex to set up, with less points of failure. Obviously they don't want a single point of failure, but having so many intricate processes leaves more room for failure as well. What I'm wondering is if they're going to take the full unit, and drop it over a desert from 40,000 feet and make sure the test robo actually does what they think it will do. That puny lab test was nothing compared the wind shear and gravitational pull of a real drop.
