I have been using Google products all my life....
I have never had my identity stolen.
I have never had any $$ taken out of my bank account or stolen.
I have never been spammed with e-mails in Gmail.
Never had spammers call my home phone or cell phone.
Never felt insecure using any Google product.
I have always allowed Google to track what I search and the sites I go to even though there Is CLEARLY AN OPTION TO TURN THIS OFF.
I have actually bought things because of relevant ads that I happened to see on websites (Thanks Google)
And in no way is Google knowing: What I search for/What my interests are/How old I am/That I live in NYC/My searches and anything else I do online going to ever effect me besides getting relevent as and supporting a company that has only made great products... FOR FREE.

And wasn't it made clear not too long ago that Mozilla was "striving" to be more like google, with their small, incremental, and frequent updates as opposed to releasing large updates less frequently? I coulda sworn there was even a news thread about it here on OCN too, but I can't find it (i.e., don't have the time to look for it ATM).

Faster, shorter development cycles are becoming more common. It's not just about Chrome and FF. Lots of projects (particularly open source ones) that have traditionally taken months or years to bring out new releases are now trying to cut that much shorter. GIMP and Xfce are notable additional examples. I think that a hybrid approach is better though, much like the Linux kernel. Have a deadline for new features that is relatively short (to prevent 3 year development cycles), and then give a flexible amount of time to bug squashing that simply depends on how many bugs there are and how serious they are. Fixed release dates just encourage corner-cutting, and people would rather wait an extra 3 weeks for a quality release than get it on time and have issues.
FWIW, I have not really had issues with Chrome or FF. I don't use Chrome much but I run the FF beta at work as my main browser. I actually have most of my browsing issues caused by a quirky network setup that manages to cause all my browsers (and Visual Studio for some strange reason) to temporarily lock up.
