1.- If flash fails you can brick your card
2.- The card raises the voltage to 1.21 so the circuitry suffers electromigration but if its well cooled shouldn't be a problem.
3.- If you have any problem and card fails and you RMA it they will detect that is flashed with a non original bios and warranty wil be avoided

So theoretically I can go higher than my current clocks if I had this bios installed?

Yep, the average is 40-50 mzh

If you finally flash your bios....I would rather use this bios

Its tiny smile.gif

The PCB on the GTX 680 is ~10″ long, whereas the GTX 670 PCB is ~6.8″.

I thought it was impossible to brick a card these days via bios flash simply because you can just boot up via thumbdrive and then flash the card outside of windows? (you'd probably need a separate card/integrated graphics to boot up with)

So of the two BIOSes that you referenced, which would offer a higher OC potential?
This: http://www.mvktech.net/components/com_joomlaboard/uploaded/files/GB_670_X3_VMOD.zip
or this: http://www.mvktech.net/components/com_joomlaboard/uploaded/files/Giga_GTX680WF_E1_test_1.zip

What confused me is that you stated that you would rather use the 680 BIOS. Why?

(just looking for some understanding to determine whether or not I want to flash to a non-supported BIOS).

thanks! thumb.gif

Flashed my GTX 680 Windforce and gained 50mhz on the core. Rocking along at 1380mhz core 525+mem rock solid stable with load temps at 55c playing BF3. Love it!

Any BIOs that I could flash to bring up the clocks on my reference GTX 670? I'm guessing not right?
I'd like to find a BIOS that removes the first throttling point at 69C or raises it y around 5C. My temps sit at 69/70 and I find my card throttles by 26MHz rather than 13MHz.

Well, had to return my Gigabyte, which it in itself could only reach 1185. Just got my EVGA 4gb from Newegg (who I LOVE) and hooked it up to my brand new Yamakasi Catleap (sexy beast). Running a quick run of Heaven, I see that me max boost without overclocking is 1100. Giving me a kepler boost of 54. The exact same as my last card. *facepalm*. Feeling frustrated, I set a quick +70 in Precision and did a run of Heaven. It crashed. So... do I just have the worst MOTHER F*CKING LUCK EVAR??? Or is it something else. I didn't reinstall the drivers figuring that since both the cards are 670s, but I suppose that is something I could do. Any other suggestions? Or is this just ANOTHER terrible, horrible, squalid overclocker.

As a side note, does the 4gb somehow make for worse overclocking?

EDIT: Just had a stock-settings crash during BF3. SO MAD!! mad.gifmad.gif
