As long as there are no artifacts after 4+ hours and the benchmark is still running the OC should be rock stable.

Hey All,
Discovered something a bit disconcerting last night. I installed my new GTX 670 FTW night before last and did a couple benchmarks with light overclocking. The clocks weren't extreme and I had no crashes. I fired up my modded Skyrim and everything ran beautifully. No stuttering, no sound gliltches...it was everything I expected!

Anyway, yesterday afternoon I started in on some serious clocking on the card and as a result I had several crashes. I rebooted each time and finally reached a clock of 1,250 and memory of 3,650. Afterwards I decided to start Skyrim again...and HOLY CRAP! I had video glitching and some serious sound stuttering and reverberation. I started to uninstall my mods 1 by 1 to see if I could nail it down, but nothing would eliminate it, even at stock clocks. On a hunch I uninstalled the drivers and installed the latest beta drivers and all issues were gone. Is it possible the drivers got corrupted because of the multiple crashes? I thinks so since after re-installing them my problems went away and now I can hit 1,261 on the clock and 3,700 on memory. And I don't think that's max yet...I'll push it more tonight and post screenies this weekend if I can.

So, just a heads up if things aren't working normal after a crash...re-install the drivers!

On another note...buying a new card to play with the week before school starts was not one of my better decisions...but I'll live with it! thumb.gif

I've experienced that if I don't do a clean install for the drivers all sorts of weird crap happens. thumb.gif

Ya, been there done that. I had completely wiped all drivers for the new card and it ran beautifully until it crashed during my overclock trials. After that it was hosed. On the flip side, I probably wouldn't have loaded the beta drivers if I didn't detect a problem. So far it's netted me an additional 10mhz on my clock. Can't wait to get home to push it some more...it's gonna be a loooong damn day at work. rolleyes.gif

I'll probably push the mem more tomorrow because I want to check stability first before pushing it some more

Finally decided tonight to work on my overclock.

In the core clock department, a little disappointed with my maximum overclock of 1250 mhz. (+120) Not terrible, I know, but it would have been nice to get over 1300 biggrin.gif

Memory I had much better success with being able to get it to an offset of +590. (1797/3597). I might try tomorrow to get a bit more out of the memory, but performance started fading at +600 so it's somewhere between 590 and 600.

Reformatted computer and did a clean beta driver install. This seems to be the highest I can go, have been running Heaven, 3dmark, Battlefield 3 for a few days, with no problems whatsoever. I have the Evga GTX 670 FTW edition, core clock could have been better but I guess the insane 1865mhz or 7460mhz overclocked memory compensates.

A few times now while running Heaven, I'll get a crash and an error message that says that Unigine has stopped working. Is that due to my overclock? It's not the normal message I've been seeing so I'm kinda wondering about it.

I have also experienced this, and it is just another way of telling you that, yes, your overclock is not stable.

Depends on the error message off course but generaly it means your core clock is too high.
