[OFFICIAL] GTX 670 Overclocking - Page 7

Just set your memory at stock speeds and only work on the core for now. Just follow what i said in my post above once you set your memory to stock speeds.

This: Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

To add to what i said, you should just add 25mhz to your core clock and then run 3dmark11 (there's free copies out there) and check the graphics score. If the score goes up (even slightly) and you don't crash or green/blue screen and there's no graphical anomalies on the screen during the bench, then bump it an additional 25mhz. Keep doing this until either the graphics score starts to drop, you crash, or you have graphical artifacts, and then drop the core clock by 12mhz and test again. If it's stable there, bump it up 6mhz and try again. If it's stable there then just stay there for now. Then you'd repeat the same on the memory (though i'd start with increments of 50mhz, then 25, then 12, etc) until it's stable. Once you think you have a stable max-OC then you should try some other benchmarks and games and see if you crash or have artifacts. If you do then you will need to start bumping things down until you become stable again. Once you're there, you could take a more advanced step that usually isn't worth doing if you don't care about truly maxing your overclock, and try dropping your core clock and bumping your memory a little bit to see if that increases your performance, if it does, keep going until you reach instability or performance drops and then back off a bit.

first time OC'ing a video card in a while. I can't run GPU-Z because it always crashes upon start, not sure why.

should i have sync checked on or off? thanks!

does this seem right?

max GPU clock is 1233mhz
max memory clock is 3524mhz

So it looks like I am stuck at 1215 on core, 450 on memory.. Which gives me 50 FPS in Heaven 1920 Tess High, 8AA, 16AF, and a combined score of 9750 in 3DMARK and a graphics score that just barely goes over 10K.

So the question of the day is, should I call Amazon and RMA the card? I will be honest with my reason and would consider a restock fee, if any.

What difference do you guys think an extra 150mhz on the OC would make? I'm not worried about this gen too much, BF3 is already maxed out with adaptive VSYNC...

Am being ridiculous to think I should RMA the card?

Also, am I finding an excuse to dump my crappy Cooler Master power supply for a Seasonic? That would have no impact, correct? I did run dual 6870's with no problem.. My only remaining issue with the Cooler Master is the freaking fan which annoys me.

You would see maybe a 5-8% performance increase from another 150mhz. I would RMA if it was me, 1215 is really bad tongue.gif

Probably less than %1 of all cards are going to get 1365Mhz stable.... set your expectations accordingly... While 1215 certainly isnt the highest overclock I've seen, anything over 1200 is a gift IMO.

Is there any possibility that my power supply is holding me back? I decided to run Prim 95 last night as well and it looks like at 1.295v my 4.4 OC isn't stable either....
