Actually, since I can set my mobo to PCI2.0 and 3.0, I'll see if it will make a difference.

I'll report back later this weekend.

PCI 2.0
GPU: 1277 Mhz
Memory: 6912 Mhz
Heaven Score: FPS - 56.5, Scores - 1424
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

PCI 3.0

GPU: 1277 Mhz
Memory: 6912 Mhz
Heaven Score: FPS - 57.6, Scores - 1451
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
375
375

So not much change from PCI 2 (x16) vs PCI 3 (X16) in my not so scientific methodology.

I have tried to switch back and forth between PCI 2 and PCI 3 gen on my MSI board. In heaven, when in PCI 3 Gen, I have a massive drop in score and FPS in heaven. I posted this question awhile ago, but no one responded. Don't quite understand why a larger bandwidth lane would actually slow down. Thats like driving in a congested rush hour traffic and then driving with no one on the road. Just doesn't make sense

That's odd, though I'm only a sample size of 1. I didn't find much change when I switched from PCI2 to PCI3. PCI3 had a better heaven score, but not that much.

Though I'm running a different mobo than you, and possibly a different IB chip.

Do you have an Ivy bridge processor? As far as I know PCIe 3.0 only works if you have IVY. If you're on Sandy bridge that may explain it.

EDIT: clicked on your rig and saw you have IVY... nvm. I have no idea why your score dropped with PCIe 3.0

Im sure its just driver/bios related for the drop in score.

Weird things like that happen, for instance my corsair 1500 headset works perfectly in usb2.0 slots but in usb 3.0 slots gets static, in their forums they say just have it in usb 2.0 slots lol

Think asus said something like this with their 7970 at launch too that it needed to be in pci 3.0 to work properly regarding a problem someone was getting, sure whatever it was got fixed with a bios/driver fix

Things are really weird for my in terms of boost clocks. When I run an intensive program like Furmark, when I set it to full screen (1920x1080) the boost clock will only go to 1006MHz....but when I minimize the window...it jumps back up to 1290MHz....where it should be. Heat isn't an issue here either...temps are normal. This also happens in games like FFXIV and GW2, where while in fullscreen, the boos clocks only go up to 1006MHz.

Any help please?

Yeah kepler has a mind of its own, thankfully its a gpu powerhouse, but if my gtx570 acted this way I would have been pissed. Even then I still wish we had more control over it but oh well

Saturday i received a Asus GTX670 DCII. Max clock i can reach is +155 (1239MHz) on the core, +160 and the driver crashes.

Too bad it's not that great overclocker.

+155 core
+500 memory
