[OFFICIAL] GTX 670 Overclocking - Page 9

I wonder if one of you can help me with my situation.

I recently purchased an EVGA GTX 670 Superclocked. I had thought these cards were binned higher than the rest of the 670s. However, I can't go over +25 on the core without instability. Power target is set to the max: 122% and temps don't even break 70c in benchmarks nor games. The max mem offset I can get to is +150. Am I doing something wrong or did I just lose horribly in the silicon lottery with a higher binned chip?

Edit: It runs on the factory OC perfectly fine though.

Common misconception. They are not binned like you had hoped. Just tested to be stable at the factory overclock. Anything above that is a bonus.

Here's the highest stable OC I've been able to reach so far in Windows XP 32-bit with my Gigabyte GTX 670. I'm wondering if when I make the switch to a 64-bit OS (sometime soon) with an upgraded PSU and other components I might see a better OC. For now though this does everything I want it to and then some.

My scores in Heaven with this OC are 1775 with average 70.5 FPS on default settings @ 1920x1200, and with all settings maxed out (8xAA, 16x AF) my score is 1396 with average 55.4 FPS @ 1920x1200.

^^^ PSU and PS is not going to help with OC. What is your max boost?

That shot of after burner doesn't tell us anything. Show the side with the graph after you do some benching it will show what you core peaked at.

What ^^^ said. You HAVE to look at the graphs w/a 3d app running to see what your clocks are, due to the automatic Kepler boost. A +75 core offset means your actual clock is probably somewhere between 1200 and 1300MHz.

I got this card 2-3 days ago and this is my first overclock attempt. After several different settings, i found this area pretty stable (run around 10 3DMark tests and never failed).

Is this good enough, or can i push a bit more?

and last question, for causal gaming (2-3hours/day with WOW, Diablo and BF3) what should be safest settings to run my GPU?

Thanks!!

Since we can't mess with voltage on these cards, any setting that is stable will be safe. I'd say push the GPU and Memory clocks as high as they will go until you have stability issues or artifacts, scale it back a bit from there, retest, and if everything looks good then run that as a daily.
