Hey all,
I have the following.
i7-2600k (at stock)
CoolerMaster EVO 212
Asus P8Z77-V LX
Corsair AX750 PSU
Powercolor PCS + 7950
Corsair 8gb Vengence
128GB Samsung SSD
2TB Seagate SATA 3.0 7200rpm 64mb Cache Drive.
Fractal Define XL case.
I am / was finding the Fractal quite noisy compared to my previous build.... Antec P182, Q6600, P5Q Pro, Zalman ZM500 PSU, x-fired 5770's and all the case fans running on slow.
It seems to me that the air movement from the case fans on the Fractal causes a bit of a whistle through the vents, even though the fans are on min from the fan controller. I was suprised considering the amount of fans that were going in the Antec..
So I did the next best thing and unplugged them all.
Running Prime95, my CPU temp is 55c and mobo 45c.. MAX - On idle my temps are 40c CPU and 30c Mobo..
I could always swap the hardware from the Fractal to the Antec, not sure if I need too though. Without any fans running the Fractal is near enough as silent as you can get. I could perhaps switch out the fan on the EVO 212 to something less.
I don't mind a little fan noise when I'm gaming, just don't appreciate it while on idle / browsing etc.
Given my 7950 and 2600k, runs everything perfectly smooth at 60FPS on Ultra, on all my games, I also don't see the point of Overclocking just yet.. At least until I buy a game down the road that'll be more demanding than what the 2600k / 7950 offers.
so do you reckon those temps are absolutely fine? Or should I really be thinking about re-introducing the intake and outtake fans...
