Piledriver vs. Bulldozer

Thread Starter
Someone needs to take a Bulldozer processor with 4 enable cores and downclock it to 2.3 GHz and benchmark it using PCMark, Cinebench, etc. Then, clock it at 3.2 GHz and benchmark it.

With these results, we can compare Bulldozer with Piledriver (w/o L3 cache).

Here is a pretty comprehensive review of Trinity. If someone decides to do this, you might want to make sure to use the same benchmarking suites and settings as Anandtech.

I think you'll find Vishera/Piledriver different than Trinity laptop in a number of aspects. I'm expecting about a +15% for Vishera over the current FX/BD CPUs and higher available frequencies with slightly less power consumption when OC'd. biggrin.gif

If you want to compare Trinity to BD, then it would make more sense to wait till the desktop version releases. All that's available as of now is the mobile version.

well this would actually give people an *idea* of what to expect.

too bad i actually just switched to a 3570k today.

I tested 3.2 GHz single-threaded performance with CB 11.5.

I got a .78 score while Piledriver scored .77 at the same speed.

The things Im reading right now are saying around a 6% improvement in IPC over Llano.

Now I dont think we can tell a whole heck of a lot about Piledriver yet because Trinity is made with high efficiency as one of the primary goals and it has no L3 cache and has half its die dedicated to a GPU. Vishera will be made with performance as the primary goal and will have a L3 cache. If Trinity is at ~6% better right now, then its possible that Vishera could come up with 15% improvement over Bulldozer. I was hoping for 20% myself but I think thats going to be a little unrealistic.

I'll have the my 6100 back up and running tomorrow. I'll see if I can disable one module and run it.
