X79 VCORE Over 80'C Centigrade warning (AI Suite II)

Thread Starter
Well it is now come to my attention about the VCORE temperature is now hovering between 85-86'C on 100% load @ 4.8Ghz 3930K CPU.

The VCORE is the VRAM presume and I have AI Suite II running all the time. The monitor gave a warning that it has reach over 80'C. I'm just curious about those VRAM can resist up to 105'C last read somewhere on internet.

Does anyone know anything about the VCORE hitting 85-86'C would be dangerous to my X79 board? These board known to run very hot and I am thinking to add a fan to blow on it.

VCORE is the CPU core. I usually don't trust AI suite, use coretemp : http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/ it'd much more accurate. BTW if it still very high then you either need better cooler or drop your Overclock down a little.

Use Real Temp for core temps and HWiNFO for everything else.

All my core are 70'C at 100%, the VCORE hits 86'C until I put a fan to blow directly on the motherboard heatsink cuts down 10'C. So now it is at 67-71'C only. I'm pretty sure it's the VRM temperature because my AIDA64 shows 86'C on a different reading and the CPU temp are exactly like RealTemp.

I've been using RealTemp ever since and this is why I am posting about the VRM over 80'C could be dangerous or not.

So my solution was to add a fan on top of the mobo heatsinks. Those built in fan on Sabertooth X79 aren't doing much but gimmick looker.

Sounds like you answered your own question. Add another fan or pull the heatsink and redo the TIM, cooler is better as I'm sure you know.

Well I didn't want to take chance while waiting for response... I end up digging my box of fans to see if it does something and it did. rolleyes.gif

Yeah the VRMs need some form of active cooling on pretty much any X79 board. Luckily my Dimastech has a fan attachment for such a thing. exhappysmiley.png
