Ivy Bridge CPU will not overclock- locks in at 34

Thread Starter
After my overclock fail situation from before "http://www.overclock.net/t/1258235/pc-wont-turn-on-after-overclock/10#post_17257820"

Im not sure why but it seems that i cant overclock anymore. When i go into Change the CPU ratio it wont go higher than 34. Also i notice a few differences in the options that are displayed in my bios such as "Turbo Ratio, Ratio Synchronizing Control, and the ability to set the (1,2,3,4) -Core Ratio Limit.

Can i get some advise please?

Thanks

Bump*?

i looked around an very few people have a similar problem to what i have for example;
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/306459-30-locked-multiplier-2600k-asus-p8z68

but the difference is that using the + and - keys for me dosent yield the same results as he did. I tried both updating and using a previous version of the bios but nothing changed

Please help, im worried that something might be wrong with the motherboard or the cpu... worriedsmiley.gif

Are you changing the CPU ratio or turbo ratio? Because you should leave the CPU ratio to AUTO and adjust the Turbo ratio to the value you want.

That is speedstep, clocks down when not being used much.

the thing its that turbo ratio option is no longer available to me in the boys screen only turbo (mode)i understand that turbo mode rapids up the cpu and sottspeed step down, buy I tried disabling both and still have it locked at 34

Don't disable turbo. If you don't want your cpu to slow down when idle, disable speedstep and C1E. But you need turbo enabled to overclock. Set it to the mode that sets the multiplier the same for all cores.

Looks like you enabled an XMP profile from your RAM.

It'll disable some features and force you to run at a certain clock speed.

In other words, don't use the XMP profile of your RAM if that's the case.

Otherwise... I have no clue.

I run my ram on an XMP profile and have never had an issue with overclocking

The thing is an im no longer to individually see any of my cores while i was before this whole thing happened.. im also sure its not because of XMP, because my ram does not allow it. (using samsung 30nm ram) Everything in my bios is at default at the moment fresh bios.
