Thread Starter
the setting is currently 2600mhz nb and 1866 memory but anything over that equals no post so how would i break 2600 and 1866 with a fx-4100 cpu on the asus m5a97 evo motherboard? tongue.gif ive tried everything i can think of and it just wont post with settings over 2600 and 1866

same combo as I have (though you have a better psu and my ram is rated to 1866). I think that the secret is going to be loosening your ram timings (not that I know what your running atm).

when overclocking my cpu I found that if I try and run 9-10-9 which is my xmp for 1866 I end up in problems at any overclock. Lowering my clock speed to 1600 or changing my timings to 11-11-11 helped me heaps...

I just dont think that the bulldozer is particularly great at clocking ram. maybe you can prove me wrong! biggrin.gif

that might be something to think about although i read going over 1.55v on ram and cause permanent damage to your memory

i love overclocking things and seeing how far i can push them but seeing as i dont have the money to just go replace things i like to keep it within safe voltages biggrin.gif

My hyperx 1600mhz CL9 ram is rated for 1.65v for stock settings. I found its best to run it around 1500(can't remember exact speed) with CL8 timings. TBH, I've done a lot of research on FX as I own an 8120 and there is no benefit to clock your NB over 2500mhz really. Benchmarks showed no gain really. I have my HT clocked at 2800mhz with 1.28v and my nb to 2400 I believe with 1.25v. See what your ram specs are and research them and find a review and see where the reviewer overclocked them to so that you have an idea. It can be very picky, just be patient and you will find that swet spot!
