[CVG] Diablo 3 user review average plumits to 3.6 on Metacritic - Page 6

Since Mr. Draconian chimes in on every D3 thread there is with his negative whiny comments, I'll do the opposite and post my positive experience in every one thumb.gif

I've logged almost 24hrs of play from launch until about 9:00PM last night. It took me about an hour after servers went live to get connected, which was frustrating, but certainly acceptable in my book. I played uninterrupted for 7 hours after getting logged in for the first time, no lag, no disconnects.

The few small segments of "Emergency Maintenance" should have been expected, and didn't really both me either. Overall I've had a great experience with the launch, and have no complaints for a game this huge.

As far as the DRM goes, bots and hacks destroyed D2, if this is whats necessary to keep that from happening again, you won't hear a peep out of me. DRM is just one of those things that isn't going to go away, and no amount of whiny nerds are going to change that, if you believe that you can gather enough support to even put a dent in billion dollar corporations pockets, then you should just off yourself.

Whats even more ironic is that the entire reason DRM's were created, was because of the same nerds whining about it. Cracking games, pirating games, creating bots, hacks, and dupes.

I know its a little too general of a statement that ALL nerds are at fault, but there in your ranks, so blame them, not Blizzard.

I'm still not really far in it, I like to take my time clearing FoW and killing everything so I'm still not as far as most would be, but 10 or so hours of play so far, but I'm really liking it.

What would getting rid of the auction house solve? There's hundreds of item sites, people will always be able to buy items.

Anyone who thinks the auction house is the reason there is no offline play doesn't seem to understand the online realms would be separate in that case, and the auction house would not be available for offline characters. SP chars can't join online games ever, thus no hacked items on marketplace.

To all the people out there giving terrible reviews over server issues and always having an internet connection being necessary...... it's completely idiotic.

We have known that it was going to require always-on-internet access for a VERY long time now. This is not new information. I personally don't mind that being a requirement, because frankly, how freakin' hard is it to maintain an internet connection all the time? I honestly can't see the big deal. My rigs are always folding, seeding, downloading, etc. Those things require internet access and people manage to handle that quite easily.

When I see people have these nerd rages and FREAK OUT over launch day server issues or having the always-on-DRM it just makes me shake my head in shame. To think a game with an incredible amount of hype and launch day activity won't have some sort of server issues is just plain ignorant. The complexity of what they have to deal with is huge on a mind boggling level.

I feel this is just another result of our culture drifting further and further into a narcissistic selfish way of looking at things. Because of the anonymity of the internet, we complain horrendously, even though if we were to meet the developers in person, we would say "Oh, great job guys, thanks!" Because of our focus on nothing but our instant gratification we moan and complain like a toddler not getting the toy that they want at the store. It's honestly embarrassing. People have unrealistic expectations but feel so entitled that they freak out when things don't go exactly how they want.

To all those people: Grow up. Please. You're embarrassing me and yourselves. You have waited a DECADE for this game, but now because there are a few hiccups on launch and the game has the same exact requirements that you've been expecting for quite some time now, you complain and whine. It's like spitting in the face of all those men and women that worked their asses off for this game for years. Most complainers have never contributed to making anything creative or technical yet can easily jump to criticize. Have some patience and stop embarrassing yourself.

So everyone should be happy that Blizzard never even made the effort to make a game that could be enjoyed without internet access or just from a single player perspective, even if it meant extra work?

And all the people who used to enjoy the game in such a manner, their opinions are invalid?

User "review"..?

How can they review they game if they can't log on... They are just whining about the servers. Hopefully metacritic removes these so the game can get scored correctly.
Also, I haven't read any of these pages so they might have already removed them? I remember reading about another game that got metacritic bashed by users, but they removed them or something. tongue.gif

Queuing...........for single player?

I literally cant wait for another publisher to do this. Seriously, I cant wait.

I can just imagine it now:
Quote:
It's no biggie, we're streaming game data from their servers anyway
Quote:
I don't mind. How would we be able to use the ("essential") micro transaction system if they didn't do it this way?
Quote:
I dont even play single player anyway so it doesn't matter if they basically remove offline gameplay

Yeah, I'm sure that's how its going to go.....

No offense, but north americans and europeans just complain too much. Nothing is ever just right for them, we've forgotten what it means to live.

Anyways, anyone who has had any experience with gaming knows how big a deal piracy/cheating is. This is one of the easiest ways, one of the best ways. Would you all like some DRM like starforce or something?

I play on multiple computers depending on where I am, I find this extremely handy as I don't have to keep moving save files. Yesterday I played a bit on my rig and got called to my gfs place, fired up my laptop and continued right from where I left off.

To all those that took a day or more off to play this on launch, well this is entirely your fault. You should have been intelligent enough to put the puzzle together. 10+ years waiting for this game, there is a huge following. Sure, this is Blizzard the makers of WoW so they should be able to handle the loads....you would think. The fact is no matter how much hardware they have, millions of people will be doing the exact same thing at the exact time. You'd need to invest a lot to keep that process smooth. You've waited 10+ years, what is another day. You don't have to work through the bugs, the emergency maintenance. The game will still be here in 24 hours, unless you for some reason want to be the best in game and therefore must devote every possible second towards that goal.

The beta test weekend, it really is good to test their system. However, you must understand not everyone will bother with the beta due to various reasons. You'd have a faction of users at best, so you had better hope servers don't even slow down in the slightest.

Oh and since when did numeric reviews on any site mean anything? Think newegg user reviews, gamespot user reviews, IGN user reviews....what does it matter? These days don't we base decisions off gameplay videos? I've never checked the score for a game, and said OMG THATS SOOO GOOD I MUST BUY IT!
